Default questions about oil change

ok, so i got an oil change at the dealership Dec 18 with the mobil 1 full synthetic. the tc takes 4 qts of oil and thats what they have always put when i take it in for service. today i was looking at my invoice and it says that they put 5 qts of oil. i check my dipstick and its well past the full mark. now, my question is am i in danger of bending the rods or blowing the headgasket, or something getting damaged because of the extra oil? thanks in advance...

Over filling can blow seals (very bad), but that's about it. Just take out what you need to until it reads full on the dipstick.

Yeah its not good, take out a qt of oil ASAP & change your own oil from now on. The only way you'll know for sure something is done right is when you do it your self.

Default ....WHY GET RAPED?....

Dealerships can not take the time to check a dip stick.
Tech's are programmed to fill up any crank case with 5 Quarts dispite the fact that our Scions take less than 4.
Dealerships count on customers never checking thier own dipsticks.

This is a common practice. No one in this cruel world will ever care enough to check the dip stick, EXCEPT YOU!!!

The last time I went to MILLER TOYOTA in Manassas, I got:
5 Quarts of oil in my 3.8 QT crank case.
Miller Toyota stripped the threads on my oil plug, I had to replace it.
Miller Toyota stripped my oil pan threads, it still works but is cross threaded.
Upon return visit, Miller Toyota used a nasty, oily rag to rub on all my white under the hood hours before a show.............DO IT YOURSELF
I did NOT get an "I'M SORRY" from the "service manager", just contempt.

well, i went today to get that checked before my trip to las vegas. they told me nothing would happen to the car and checked the level. they corrected it and apologized and gave me a free oil change. i just hope nothing got damaged from the 400 miles i drove with an extra quart of oil.

Too much oil can also cause froth, definitely a good thing to avoid.

I would also keep the service record of them removing some oil, if a problem does come up it will be nice to have proof that they overfilled. Amazing to get that kind of bad quality service at a dealership...
