quickshift install
Hello, i purchased a TRD quickshifter, and at first i attempted to install it myself. I got the center console off fine, then i ran into the problem of the wire harnesses along the passenger side of the shifter... i couldn't figure how to get them out, i pulled (but not too hard) then i tried to push from underneath and still not even a budge.
I then though of having toyota install it but they wanted to charge 2 hours worth of labor, $168!! -- no way.
so it's back to me installing again, the overall directions are easy to read, but a better description of how to remove the harnesses would be cool.
thanks, from a newb installer.

I think I know what you are talking about. If I am understanding you correctly you need to use a razor blade to cut the green tape wrapped around the wires. Be careful not to cut any of the wires though! Then you can pull out the shifter housing and pop the tabs out from the underside and re-attach them to your new piece.

i just recently did an install myself. luckily i didn't have to hard of time getting the clips off. how hard did you try pulling them off. mine's just popped right off. the harder part will taking off the shift cable clip from the whole unit. it says in the instructions to stick a screwdriver in the slot to "unlatch the claw" you have to twist the whole thing around just to get the screwdriver in. all in all, not too hard of an install. good luck and happy modding.

Just use a screwdriver underneath the plug and pop it out with a bit of leverage. Using your bare hands to pull it out is a bit difficult.
