Default Recommendations for windshield repair?

Anyone have any good recommendations for winshield repair in the South Bay. My wife drives on 680 to work and everyone around here knows how bad the construction ish is over there. Hell I might've picked up one or two more going home from the BCS afterparty on Friday, hahaha. But anyway, I just noticed that some of the chips started playing connect the dots, and low and behold there's a small crack in the windshield now. I just want to take care of this before it gets out of hand and then I'm forced to replace the entire windshield. Not looking for the cheapest, but just best quality and service. Thanks for the help in advance. :D

I picked up a $9 kit from wal-mart and it worked great for me. Took about 15 min. total. Sorry, but I can not remember the name of the kit I got but it had enough to fix my winshield as well as some places on my wifes Volvo.

If it's already cracking, it's probably too late for the fix it kit. It depends on where the cracks are going too. If they are headed across the major part of the window, you're done for. If it is just cutting across a small portion and will hit the edge, i would recommend waiting until it collects a few more chips.

One thing to consider, is that the windshield provides significant support to the roof, especially in an accident. They say having a cracked windshield can compromise the safety design of the vehicle, besides being a potential blind spot...

EVILDAVE just told me the name of a place that replaces them for free and deals with your Ins. company to get it paid for. I'll check with him for the name.

Sorry to break the news but a 12-13inch crack = new windshield. They wont repair a crack that big because it's deemed unsafe. Ya, you can't repair a crack, only chips. Do you have insurance? It's considered a non responsible claim, all you do is pay your deductible. Shoulda kept your baby in storage.

Windshield Repair Atlanta
Yeah, thats a pretty good size crack. I have repaired them up to about 6" any longer than that and get a new windshield.

Well, I finally got a ticket for my windshield and will have to replace it. Anyone else still on their original windshield? '04 with over 160,000 miles, I guess I got my money's worth out of this one.

4-5 major cracks, probably 15-20 stars and chips... I just hate to break that original seal...
