Default Scratch X... safe?

I went to Wal-Mart and bought some Scratch X, hoping it'd remove some of the swirl marks I have on my BSP. But, I'm a little afraid to use it. Someone said it just makes the swirls worse than before you use it. Anyone use the stuff? Pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Do I use this on my whole car, like wax, o rjust on spots?

It works, make sure to use on a clean surface. If possible, clay as well. I also used microfiber applicators. No pics, sorry, but it does work.

If you are worried about anything, just try a small section or panel so you can compare the results side-by-side when done. You will be pleased.

Use it wherever you have swirls. It's not a bad idea to do the whole thing, but unless you have swirls, no need to reapply or anything. And it will remove any wax you have, so it's not a bad idea to apply some when done.

This brings up another point. To stop from getting swirls in the first place, be careful with what touches your paint. I never set anything on the car or lean against it, and NOTHING touches my car when I clean but microfiber.

you'd be surprised how little it actually takes to make a swirl mark.... heavy dust being rubbed across the paint surface by an otherwise clean MF towel is more than likely going to create a few swirl marks.

Yes, Lubrication is the key, be it water, soapy water, detail spray, whatever. You cannot wipe a dry dirty car with a clean MF towel and expect it not to scratch.

I didn't use the towels on a dry surface. I used them to wash the car. I had super-soapy water, and there are still a ton of swirl marks. I'd just like to make them less obvious. I tried some of the Scratch X earlier, but I didn't see a difference. At all. Maybe I'm not using it right?

Ahh....Max and I seem to be on the same page here.

That is a big part of why I am not a fan of the quick exterior detail sprays. I understand how much people rave about them, but my theory is the less my paint is touched by ANYTHING (micro, dusters, QED's) in a solid form, the better.

I wash weekly, and after my application of Klasse all in one and 12 hours later with a plain 'ol carnuba wax, I have less swirls than the day I took delivery.

If you are not familiar with the 3-bucket method, I would suggest you read about it. Also wash in the same way air passes over your car at speed. No circles! Straight lines only.

I did wash in straight lines. I really do think my dad went outside and washed my car once without me knowing. I know all about how to wash a car, and still have swirls. =( I knew that going into it, with a BSP there was gonna' be SOME swirls, but it's like, this is riduclous. My old car didn't have swirls like this. And the Scratch X stuff, I can't even tell I put it on.

How is the nap on your microfibers (mf)? Not all mf are made the same. A longer nap traps the dirt and keeps it away from your paint. Also look at your wash mitt....same question.

Do you rinse the mitt after wiping down a panel?
