Should i go for 7,500 Sched Maint or 10,000 like manual says
I got the email about going for my 7,500 Scheduled maintenance. Should i go for it or should i go for the 10,000 like the scion Scheduled maintenance book says???I'm only 100 miles away from 7,500. What did u guys do? Oh and how much is it?
I did nothing but get the oil changed on my Lava until I hit the 15,000 mile mark and my box rides perfect as the day I drove it off the lot...
Aside from the basic oil change at every 3,500 miles or 4 months (whichever come first), I've only had the 15,000 schedules maintanence (which basically included a tire rotation and balance, oil change, top off all fluids, lube if needed, and clean and adjust the brakes)...My tires show no wear at all on front or back at over 19,000 miles now, my box drives straight as an arrow at speeds past 80mph, no steering wheel rattles, vibration, braking trouble, or engine problems...
These things are a lot more durable than a lot of people tend to think they are...Just change the oil and do the 15/30 and so on mile scheduled maintanece intervals and you'll be fine :D

Do not pay the dealer for the scheduled maintenance. You will get severly screwed. The 15k maintenance for example would take someone about 30 -45 min tops to do (including the oil change). Dealerships are charging anywhere between $200 and $300 to perform this.

I am going in for my 5K service today. It's only $67.95, they check all too, brakes, fluides, tires and they rotate them, they check belts a/c all that crap..and give it in oil change. SO that's getting done today.
strange thing happened at exactly 7500... my maintenance light came on solid. Why would it do that at exactly 7500 when the maintenance schedule says 5000 increments?
Well after I got the oil change around 4600, we took a trip and once I came back the maintenance light would blink at ignition and then go away. I suspect it came from that.
But seriously? why do you need anything at 7,500 if you're not in harsh conditions?

the light comes on at a certain amount of miles. I had an oil change done at a place other than the dealer, and they didn't know to reset the censor. If the censor isn't reset the Maintenance Req light comes on automatically. You can reset it yourself though.
