Default Tc's body quality?

Well I was installing the grill that I got and ended up taking the front bumper off. The thing is all plastic and doesnt seem like its super durable (never taken bumpers off before but this one seems to be just pure plastic). I was reading consumer reports on our car and under body integrity it was given the worse rating possible (everything else was either good or excellent though). I like this car a lot and was thinking about keeping it for a while but obviously not if the body is going to fall apart. Anyone have any idea or thought on this? I take care of my paint and car by washing it and waxing and everything.

The bumper is meant to absorb minor hits - the EPS behind the bumper does some of the real impact-absorbing. (low-speed impacts)
The body integrity issues really revolve around squeaky hatches and sunroofs.
My mechanic said he thought it was as solid as any other new cars he's had in the shop, so I'm not worried.

yea, the tC's body isn't that strong, my car was hit with a baseball in the rear quarter panel, right above the wheel, and it left a nice DENT; Which really kills me. Other than that though, i dont think the tC's body is significantly weaker than anything else in its class/price range.

anything is better than the fenders on the 7thgen honda civics. you literally TOUCH the fenders and they get little dings.

And that's the end-result of trying to squeeze out more MPG.
Lighter cars=better mileage.

Bummer.

The paint is a little "soft," and for some reason, my fender lost the battle vs. a 1985 Chevy Dualie

It's built like a race car; everything dissengrates and crushes except for the passenger compartment.
