Towing a Prius?!
I dont know if this would surprise anyone else, but last week I was driving and saw a Prius on top of a flatbed tow truck. I did a double take--I realized that I'd never seen a Prius being towed before. I had to post this strange occurance.

i saw it once, the car was actually still able to run.. despite the fact that the front end was smashed and coolant was leaking all over the place.
i was there talking with the owner making sure he was okay... he just had it towed to a shop to get it looked at and fixed.
but yeah.. just once for me.

I've never seen one being towed due to mechanical issues.
I've seen one from an accident, and I saw one and the person was moving out of state. That was actually an argument I made to my dad when my mom was wanting to get a hybrid. He feels there's still too many issues with the batteries.

That's true! But it's should be no surprise, though, since most of the Prii on the roads today are still relatively new, and shouldn't be having major mechanical issues.
Really though, although repairs will obviously be more expensive, I don't see anything that could go *catastrophically* wrong. Batteries are batteries, and most of the time, won't just completely die.
Even if they do, the Prius is a parallel hybrid (as opposed to a superior (in most cases), series hybrid), so even if the batteries and electric motor failed completely, it could still just run on conventional ICE power.
Besides, I'm pretty sure electric motors are pretty freakin reliable. I mean, in a very general sense, they are very simple machines - there's not much that can really go wrong with them.
