Redline MT-90 for a manual tranny

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...nresults=false

If you go to the Redline site, http://www.redlineoil.com/dealers.asp, it will show you dealers in your area.

Hey boogie man I have an auto and I changed to Amsoil @ 30,000. It made a difference. Smoother shifting and better accelleration. Oh yeah added a tranny cooler as well.

^^^^^^WOW^^^^^

Hey boogi man no trick shift that stuff sucks! I actually did a report on that stuf for auto school, all the tests showed that it shortened the life of the tranny. It also ruins the performance. If you are going to change go to Amsoil or Redline. I wouln't use anything less those 2 are the best going. Good luck

Don't do it man The toyota tech IV is a synthetic blend. Use of anything other than that may cause problems down the road. Tim, did Amsoil say that if the trans goes bad they will cover replacement??? If not I'd switch back to the Toyota stuff ASAP. There is a reason no one makes anything for our auto trannies yet. I researched this subject and could never find a 100% replacement for our trans fluid.

That's an option or a mod I've had done to every automatic I've ever owned, since I was told about them. To me it makes a huge difference in longevity, especially if you are an agressive city driver.

I have never heard that before. Is there any info on this? I was told to use Amsoil even by the Toyota guy's.

I heard stories from Toyota techs saying about how others have tried non approved fluids in the auto and then tried getting the trans covered under warranty. They can test the fluid to see if it's the Toyota stuff or not. The TechIV works fine and I don't see a reason to out think Toyota on the trans fluid. Just change it every 15/20 k and the trans should last forever.

75w90 So were talking about a manual trans ?? I think one of the other guys may be a little confused . 75w90 gear oil should be for a stick , if in fact you have a automatic, I wouldn`t stray from the OEM Toyota automatic t4 trans fluid . As for Amsoil or redline or Royal purple for a manual those are a good quality produsts with alot of r&d into making them . Besides the dealer only drain and fills your manual trans with whatever brand the service departmant buys in bulk be it mobil , valvoline, etc . So remember NOTHING but toyota t4 if it`s an automatic !! All the so called parts stores , Pepboys , Auto Zone, Sears, buy the t4 from me at the dealer because nobody makes it aftermarket yet . Hope this helps you !!

When you said 75w90 GL5, I assumed you were talking about a manual tranny and am pretty made sure I said manual. Simplified, with a stick it's metal on metal. Simple. Get a quality GL-4 or GL-5 75w90 gear oil and you're good. Automatics are like magic with all the valves, passage ways, and all that other stuff. Definately stick with a fuild that meets an auto requirements. If no aftermarket fluid meets all the requirements then go back to Toyota for it. Good luck!

No no Lucas is good just read there guarntee , I would look for a Royal purple , or the Amsoil stuff if the guarntee isn`t up to your expectations. You might be able to order them direct from a manufacturer`s website and read up on what your about to purchase . Hope this info help you . Good Luck , Happy Boxin !!!

The bottle of Lucas says:
75w90
Synthetic
Tran & Diff Lube
Meets or exceeds major manufacturer specifications
gear oil with synthesized additives
Excellent for use in limited slip differentials
Stands up to high tempatures without losing its lubricity
the perfect hypoid gear oil
replaces 80w90, 90w, GL5 GL6 and Mil-l2105d

is this good enough- I just dont want to put it and then find out it sucks- thats all- sorry to be a nag

I'd use a MT specific lube for better shifting. The friction modifiers for gear lubes and MT lubes are different. Redline MT-90, Amsoil MTG, and SF MTL-R would all work.

For automatic, stick with genuine Toyota T-IV. It's inexpensive, easy to obtain, and any worries of the fluid being the cause of transmission damage.
