Turtle Wax Ice Ten Thumbs DOWN!!!
So, I went to Advance Auto today to pick up some product lol... Was going to get Meguiars two step paint cleaner/polish and clay bar. Friend is lending me the orbital buffer. Washed this morning and have been looking forward to getting those swirls minimized. They didn't have the clay bar. However, the guy working there pointed me to a new product called Ice from Turtle Wax. I bought both the clay bar and the wax. The wax is supposedly fine for application in direct sunlight (which I haven't had an issue with with conventional wax) and the clay bar is a liquid thats applied with a standard applicator. So I decided to ditch the buffer and just use this. It does require rinsing inbetween clay bar application per panel, so I went to the car wash station at my apt complex. Applied to the rear bumper and trunk. Rised. Dried. No change WHAT SO EVER!!! Removes swirl marks my @$$. Not only that, but the car still had the rail dust and imperfections. No difference!!! As for the wax, I paid $15 for it. What the hell? It's as liquid as water. Don't get me wrong... It is fine for wax I guess. But not worth $15. Please, save yourself the time and the aggrivation. NEVER BUY ANY PRODUCTS BY ICE. I guess what we all know is true... Bad brands are bad brands for good reasons. And developing a new brand name in an attempt to regain market share and customer loyalty once again proves useless.
Nice. Thanks for the heads up and the review.
Personally, as far as over-the-counter products go, I find ALL of Meguiars line to be quite good. Sure, there are better products out there but with Megs, at least you know you will be getting a quality product.

I was a die hard Zymol user, but the Megs NXT line won me over for ease of use and easy access (can pick up *most* of the Megs products anywhere).
I've known many people that have had issues with Turtle Wax. In the past, they have been known to use silicon and other stuff that's *not* recommended for paint, simply because it's cheaper and does look good (for a short time).
Stick with the stuff that works...it's more work, true, but worth it.
Hell, I'd even go back to rubbing Zymol wax in with my nakid hand before I use that Turtle crap.

wait, that guy told you wax will remove swirls?!
man that's why you don't take detailing advice from the advance auto parts guys
You need polish to use with that random orbital polisher... and some good pads. Wax is used as a final step to protect the paint against environmental conditions. And yes, TW Ice is crap as you've figured out (as are *most* turtle wax products)

no the bs clay bar system said it helped remove swirls. i was very apprehensive about it, but since they didnt have mothers or meguiars, and it could be returned if it didnt work, why the heck not...
Thanks for the heads up. I waxed my car with turtle wax I forget the exact one, its the cheapest one that can be bought its like 2 dollars, was good enough for me but will go to a better wax when I run out.

I'll stick with Eagle OneNano wax or the Meguires NXT stuff. Easy on and off.
OH, and NEVER
wax in direct sunlight. It dries the wax prematurely and may streak the paint. Plus it's a biatch to get off sometimes.

Ice is a polish, not really a wax and will not hide swirls. It does work AWSOME of used correctly and you already have a great paint finish. I know, I use it all the time and have won many large shows and my paint finish is always complimented. It is definitly a bad idea if your trying to restore a paint finish. Also works killer on all of your plastics and trims outside of the car. I love the stuff.
As for the claybar, I only use Mothers claybar system. That also has worked WONDERS for me. Not sure how trashed your paint is, but I have taken cars from looking dull ugly and rough to smooth as silk pant with a claybar system. Then apply wax of your choice, or needs after and it works wonders.
I personally would recommend Ice to anyone if it is used proper as an all over car polish.
Now the ice quick detailer... that is the most horrible crap I have used. Mothers quick detailer FTW!

No soap will ever remove scratches and fine swirls. The best it can do is deposit fillers in the scratches but that's best done with a polish. A soap can aspire to do it I guess. I may try it next time. At the very least it's one of TW's premium soaps so it'll carry shine conditioners and won't lose its suds very fast. You may have misread the description though. I imagine it says "prevents scratches" or something to that effect.
Ice is a LOT of marketing crap. It's best to use it for what it is, a decent car wash setup and an awesome way to put some protection on your car in about thirty minutes.

when people say that a claybar removes imperfections, they are really trying to say that a claybar (done properly) will remove contaminants that have embedded themselves in the paint. it will not affect blemishes.
there is no soap, polish or wax that will remove swirls. they may cover or fill them in, but they will not remove them. to remove swirls, you need a mildly abrasive polish applied properly with an orbital buffer.

Hmmm.. I just used Ice for the first time, the liquid clay bar, and the liquid polish. I have to admit the clay bar is a waste. But the liquid polish I was quite impressed with. I've used TONS of wax's (Shining monkey, Zymol, NXT, Nano, Zaino bros, Rejex) and I have to admit this stuff made my SW tC look WET! Now since I just used it today, I'm very anxious to see how it holds up under some sunlight. Up untill now REJEX is by far the most superior wax I've ever used on my car, and lasts the longest. I have a weird feeling this polish won't do much in the long run, and I'll be running back to my REJEX. But for a quickie, make my car look great fast, this stuff does the trick. Not to mention IT RULES on the black plastics and rubbers. Just my .02
If you guys are buying overcounter products, just stick with Meguiar's products or Durgaloss products if you have a Carquest near you. Turtle wax... LOL
If you need car shampoo... and you're still shopping over the counter, get either Meguiar's Gold Class car shampoo or Duragloos 901/902/903 car wash concentrate.
And no, its not exactly $4 for a 1/2 gal... it is "expensive," but don't cheap it out when it comes to taking care of your car (if you really care about it).
