Default Ugh, what to do now?

So I took the car into the dealership for the 4-5th time. Can't even remember at this point. They finally fixed the stereo door, and replaced the peeling a-pillar, and warping/peeling b-pillar. What they didn't fix was the annoying rattling or the scratched windows. I'm done with this dealer. Looks like if I want my car worked on I have to drive 80-90 miles to Phoenix. Ohh what fun.

Dealer said the rattling is nothing they can fix. That I probably caused it and if I want to, I can fix it myself.

1. sell it to somebody who doesn't mind the rattling
2. fix it yourself like the dealer said
3. drive it off a cliff
4. throw a grenade in it
5. trade it in for a 50k benz
6. don't drive it, just walk to work, saves gas and you won't hear the rattles

just some suggestions.. I'm sure theres a lot more bright ideas from other members..

you can fight the dealer or embarris them at their own game heres what you do.

1. if you have alternate transportation use it
2. place your car off the property of your dealership and put a big sign on the car.
3. make the sign say something bad aganist the dealership
4. file a complaint with toyota USA

my aun't got money from dodge when she lost her oil pan and dodge wouldnt pay for it. if you _____ enough you'll get your way. i was in the auto service business and if you'll complain enough it will be diagnosed and fixed.

have you thought about the lemon law issue?

Or just take it to a dealership that is not full of _______s like the one you bought the car from. There is no reason for them to treat you that way.

Nick has selected an option none of you have listed - complain hundreds of times to a bunch of people who can't do ANYTHING about it (us).

It seems neither the dealer, nor any other dealer, nor Scion corporate, nor his state Attorney General, nor the state lemon law people think he's got a legitimate gripe, or else ONE of them would have acted on his behalf. So he's taking it out on us. (Or he hasn't even tried any of these alternate routes, which is even worse...)

Doing the sign thing only makes you look like a kook. Someone with a Ford Explorer did that outside a local Ford dealer and it almost made me want to look at Explorers, and I HATE Explorers!

Thanks for all the "serious" suggestions.

MrTc, the people on this board can do plenty to help. They can stop buying TCs so they don't have to go through this, and don't provide a company that can't back their cars up with profit. That helps me and everyone else out.

Only mrtc has a few good ones. I've taken it to multiple dealers. The next closest one is 90+ miles away. Its totally unacceptable to have to take my car to a dealer that far away.

Scion corporate will call me tommorow. They call me almost daily to check up. They said if it wasn't fixed this time then I get to start to talk to a regional rep and see what they can do. So far all they do is tell me stuff will get fixed, which is nice and friendly, but words over the phone don't help. Lemon law for AZ states same problem has to be fixed 4 times. Looking into this now because the car has been in over 4 times, but the problems have never been fixed. If anything, it will go under not backing up warranty since they have 4 months and many tries to fix one problem that they cannot fix. At that point, I'll go with the appropriate means to pursue them not holding up the warranty.

So tommorow I'll be in touch with the dealer, and scion corporate. We'll see what they want to do again. This time waiting 2-4 weeks for more parts and taking it in again is not an option. A replacement car, or refund is in order. We shall see what they say.

As for dynamatting, fixing it myself, or anything like that. There is no way I'm spending money/time fixing a car under warranty that Scion can't honor. I didn't buy a brand new car to have to fix it myself. The car has been taken to every dealer locally and I will not drive to a different city to have basic warranty claims done when there are 2 dealers within 20 miles.

Nick, I'm wondering why you feel the need to keep starting new threads over and over for the same issues. it's getting old, dude. stick to one thread, please.

see dynamating to me isn't really a fix. its something i want to do to my vehicle regardless of rattles or no rattles. blocks outside sound, increases SQL inside, as well as gives the car a nice custom look any way i want it to look.

You just post random spiteful comments about the tc, especially after someone writes a positive word about it. You do understand that not every tc user is having the same experience as you, that many of us are satisfied with our car and wholehearted recommend others to buy one? That being contacted almost daily by Scion is a sign of good customer service which doesn't support your depiction of Scion/Toyota as greedy money grubbers? That as many problem as you have, your car does not qualify as a lemon because like you said the problems were fixed? Lead a boycott against Scion if you want to, i'm sure you'll get a follower or two. Otherwise if this is your attitude you might as well boycott this forum as well.

But they won't, and they aren't. People are buying them faster than Toyota can build them. Most people are getting great cars. You're having a one-of-a-kind experience (which on a chat board is amazing - usually people with problems seek out boards like moths to street lamps). I wouldn't wish it on anyone, but if anyone lets that sway them to not buy a car, they don't DESERVE a tC. Everyone KNOWS that bad cars happen. tCs. Camrys. BMW 7 series. Doesn't mean much, and no one else is chiming in with an experience even half as bad, or even 25% as bad as yours. The only person who really backs you up is Cybergypsy, who has never owned a tC.

The more you post on the same old thing, the more suspicious and hostile people will become. It makes you look irrational, and adds to some of the more suspicious (if someone had suspicious tendencies) things in your story. ALL the dealers in your area don't want to help you? That sounds very strange.

I for one would be happy to help you with ways you can get personal satisfaction with your car, but pestering people who want to talk about our overwhelmingly GREAT tCs isn't one of them.

And Scion corporate is calling you daily? That's actually a selling point.

thats the exact reason I posted what I posted...

You hope that ppl will stop buying tCs.... please.. have you seen the reviews on edmunds? I myself sees much more happy buyers than the likes of you. My old car was a Lexus, with colder ac, smooth and quieter ride. my tC has the hatch rattle, creaks, stereo rattle, sunroof whistle at high speeds. I'm loving it still after 3 months of owning it, giving it a shower every other week, and am so glad I waited 8 months for it instead of buying an is300 back in november of 2k3 (saved me atleast 12k).

IMO i think you're too **** about every single detail, what I suggest is next time you go out for a drive, enjoy the drive, do a little redlining and have some fun, maybe you will get pass the creaks and rattles.

Honestly Nick, I feel your pain, it must suck. But saying not to buy the tC is the wrong thing to do. Rather, defame the dealership if they keep it up (which they seemed to have). Write bad reviews about them, complain to corporate, and move to another dealership. I'm sure theres more than one around you.

you know a really simple and quick fix to your "sickness" is not to visit the part of the forum where you don't really take part of?

Su1c1da1, you beat me to it. if you're sick of reading about the tC then stop reading about the tC, silly.

i think that you should realize that all scions are cheap cars and to keep the prices cheap they have to cut costs some places. and i'm pretty sure that door rattles would not constitute a lemon. seriously tho. they are cheapy cars if it was perfect it'd be alot more money and then it's price to fun ration would be ____. just deal with it or shim up the door panels yo. maybe some small felt pieces where there is contact. and the a pillar tape that should have been a very easy fix. i know we all feel somewhately bad that yer car maybe wasnt screwed together 100% but ____ happens no one or thing or company can be 100% all the time. maybe the dealerships attitude towards you is a reflection of your attitude towards them when you come for help? ahhh.......
