Water softener
So I was thinking of putting a water softener on my outside water so I could get that spot free rinse of my car (after trying out a Mr. Clean system and liking not having to wipe afterwards). So i've been reading up on them and how they work. But it appears to me based on what i've read that they just replace calcium/magnesium ions with Sodium. I'm no genious . . . but doesn't sodium (salt) cause rusting?
Why would so many car care places recommend a water softener if they're putting salty water on your car?

Heh . . .. You assume my yard has a lawn. I have lots of trees so the running joke whenever I cut is that i'm mowing my dirt. I literally disappear in a dust cloud through most of the yard.
Also, the CRS softener doesn't replace with sodium ions. It's some different technique that doesn't add salt to the water (or so they say).
I've got the unit but won't be installing it for another month or two as in the instructions it says to not use the unit when the temperature is below 40 degrees.
