I have noticed that my xb is like a magnet for water spots! I do wax it here and there, but it just doesnt seem to have a effect on water spots. Does anyone have any advise on this matter? Does anyone know how to get waterspots out? I have tried a claybar and that doesnt do anything.

i will try your method of getting off the wax and then claying the car, then rewaxing. For such a small car, it seems like it takes a lot of timeto clean the damn thing. Since i already purchased the car, and its black, im sticking with it. I have always owned black cars and i know there a _____ to clean, but they look better than any other color when they are clean. They just look like ____ when there dirty.

 

I found the best way to get acid rain/water spots out. Its one Qt water with one tablespoon of baking soda mixed to it. Put it in a spray bottle and spray the area, rub it in with a scratchless towel, it will turn to powder, wash it off, then wast the car and wax it. THIS WILL WORK, did it to my TC that had acid rain etched into the windows and they are back to normal after many detailers said I was screwed. I just keep searching on line. Let me know how it worked for you.

 

You said that you used it on windows? Is the baking soda ok for paint? I have also heard that you can use vinegar to clean your car. I dont know about using it for taking water spots out. I will try it out as long as its not harmful to the paint of the car.

 

baking soda is fine for a car as it's a base (Remember chemistry class?).. and the water spots are caused by hard water, even acid rain.. so yes that statement of a little baking soda makes complete sense to me.. try a little spot and see if it works.. wouldn't harm anything.. (and to think i didn't like Chem class in college.. wow it does help.. lol)

 

maybe you shouldn't buy a toyota.. they use the cheapest paint on the import market.

Yes, they do use cheap paint.

I ended up getting my front bumper and hood repainted after six months of owning my tC... The rock chips were everywhere. Company I went with offers a 5 year road damage warranty. So now I'm covered.

Black cars show dirt more easily than white or silver cars. They're generally hard to keep clean, in general. Best thing you can do is to keep multiple coats of wax on it, preferrably polished with a rotary buffer to seal out the elements and road debris.

When you get water splashed on the car, get it off with a detailing lubricant and a microfiber towel.

Be careful, though--swirl and scratch marks show up easily on black cars too.

Have you tried a scratch and swirl remover? Usually that will 'buff' the water spots out.

 

Shouldn't have bought a Toyota. He already has one, he is not planning to get one.

Well, as for the baking soda, I would gather that it polishes rather then cleans. I mean, it turns to powder, and yer just spraying a solution and it doesnt fully dissolve in the water. so when you rub with a towel, it soaks up the water, and the baking soda is left behind to buff the water marks away. Vinegar is good to clean windows with, used to do it with my old car, but i dunno about the body. What I do is I wash, dry, then wax with Meguiars Cleaner Wax once in a while. Other times I use Gold Class or if they dont have it, Eagle 1 Nano wax. good stuff right there. but good luck in your huntings for a remedy.

 

wow clay bar wont get it out? Then it might not be water spots

 

waterspots, or rather, minerals in water leftover after a water droplet dries, will etch into the clearcoat if they're left on the car long enough. even if the minerals are wiped away after this, the etching will still be present. waxes and sealants may hide these etchings, but the the only way to truly get rid of them is to take an abrasive polish to them.

 

i have a bsp xb and i've used klasse aio
removes spots and leaves a great shine. best stuff i've used so far!
