it is supposed to be at the dealer where you purchased the car new, and for the most part it is just 2 free oil changes. You get the 2 oil changes at 5000 and 10000, if you have more than 10000 miles, you arent able to get them.

any Scion dealership can handle the service for you regardless of where you bought it. It is for an oil change and tire rotation within the first 12 months X 2. usually @ 5k and 10k. below is taken from the Scion.com website.

COMPLIMENTARY 5,000 AND 10,000 MILE
FACTORY-RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE SERVICE
(2008 - 2009 Model Year)
Scion offers 2 complimentary factory-recommended maintenance services with every 2008 vehicle. This includes both the 5K and 10K service and can be redeemed at any Scion or Toyota dealership. It's that easy.

And, if you decide to sell your Scion, the new owner is entitled to the remaining maintenance services provided that the vehicle is within 18 months and 12,000 miles of its date of first use.

Please consult the Scheduled Maintenance Guide for more information and additional maintenance requirements.

I believe they will still "service" the vehicle but it most likely will be just an oil change and inspection.

I have "life time" oil changes but I always do them myself. I don't trust stealerships.

I have gotten mine, and after 10,000 you can not get them even if they haven't expired.

It has been a while so it may not be the same but when I bought my xB they gave me 3 oil changes free and told me I could use them at any dealer. I have used all three of them at another dealer and had no problem. Just call the dealer and ask them.

i don' t think the dealership really cares about the mileage when you get your free oil changes up to about 36k miles.

heck, even after i used my free oil changes at different dealerships because of college, work and internships (some in frostburg, some in montgomery county, and some in florida) i kept getting notices that i hadn't used them and had until 36k miles to use them,

granted, this is for my 2005 scion tc, and originally scion offered 3 free oil changes.

That is always good to do. I had a co-worker take her car to Jiffy Lube. They did not tighten the drain plug and wouldn't you know it about 20 miles down the road she blew her engine. Luckily they took responsibility for it.

I dont recommend getting it done there. if you do it yourself at least you know that its either done right now not. hopefully its done right.

also its a lot cheaper. AMSoil cost me about $7 a quart. so about $30 out the door.

meh, it really isn't hard to change oil, and there isn't much they can get wrong unless they give you too much or too little oil, or don't fill up the oil filter before installing it.

but...the tc needs 4.5 quarts of oil, so 7 times 4 is 28, since you can't buy half a quart of oil, you gotta get a whole bottle, so that is 35, and then add the price of an oil filter which is what? 3 dollars? so you're at 38 dollars to change your oil, which saves you a trip to the dealership.

oh, and also, you need tools which are a one time expenditure, jack, socket wrench, oil filter grip, if you are extremely OCD you want a funnel, you gotta use an oil receptical to catch the oil, gotta drive it somewhere to be disposed of/recycled properly. yeah, changing oil got less interesting the moment i figured buying my own oil was more expensive than paying my dealership to do it.

i already have all of that stuff O.o
and i didnt buy all that stuff for just oil changes...that would be a waste of money.

how much is it to get your oil changed at the dealer? dont they use dino oil? which is like $3 a bottle.

35 for good oil is worth it IMO.
