I got the irridiums also and love them.
I think a couple of the benefits are that it holds the gap longer and gives a better spark. Correct me if I'm wrong.

.....so, they're better because the ad agency they paid countless thousands of dollars to to come up with some fresh marketing made a flashy ad that claims all this? Then it MUST be true!!! I feel the urge to run right out and get some!
How many times do people have to see this exact thing happen before they catch on? Do you remember when Splitfire launched their multi-million dollar ad campaign? Best plug EVER!!!! (Or at least that's what they told me)
They increased power and economy dramatically.....and ONLY $6 each! How could you go wrong?
Not to bust your ***** in particular, but every week someone on here proclaims they have found the fountain of youth for their cars, just like the ad told them. And all for the ridiculously low price of roughly about double what the normal item sells for and then talks of how much money they will save. If you really want to save a dollar, FOLD IT and put it back in your wallet!
The bottom line is, irridium plugs have a longer service life than conventional or platinum plugs and the savings are reaped by not having to pay for the labor to change them as often.(some cars with V-6 and V-8 engines have plugs that are fairly difficult to access) There is NO performance difference between a fresh conventional plug and an irridium or platinum plug. If you take out your conventional plugs before 30K and toss them in the trash to install over-priced plugs you didn't need in the first place, how much are you "saving"? If you go 30K on your conventional plugs and it's time to change them, then the appropriate NipponDenso or NGK plug in platinum or irridium could be substituted for longer service life. THERE WILL BE NO DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE!!! If you think you feel one, this is known as the placebo effect and when the 'new" wears off your brain, so will the added "performance". I get all my plugs for free and I actually was bored at work one day and tried all 3 kinds in an Xb just to see. I could honestly tell no difference whatsoever and just left the platinum ones in because they were in there last. Moral of the story: Dont believe the hype!
