Default Will wax protection on car exterior last longer if you apply

Most of what I have read agrees that wax should be applied to the car exterior about every 3 months for protection.

If I apply several coats of wax in succession, will that last longer and provide wax protection for say 6 months or at least last longer then 3 months?

No, but it will make it look really nice.

And don't forget to clay bar it.

I highly doubt that it will increase durability. If you apply most waxes over previous layers of wax, the solvents used in the wax will "liquify" the previous layers and combine the new application with the previous layer leaving you with just one layer again. If you really want to increase your durability, either switch to a durable wax like collinite 845IW, collinite 476S, meguiar's #16 (hard to find, its discontinued) or switch to a synthetic sealant like four star ultimate paint protection, klasse high gloss sealant glaze, or menzerna full molecular jacket.

I am a wax weenie. I was able to wax my box 4 times before the temp dropped here in the North East. I am using Mothers. Who could say anything bad about mother…

I put loads of coats an Accord for years. When I finally stopped waxing it, water beaded for about a year. So for me I figured it works to layer it on (at least in my mind ha ha).

I did notice a big improvement in the XB (silver) shine after the 4th wax coat. It started gleaming and was easier to wax. Also seemed to have more depth, but I was possibly falling in love with her as I caressed her lovely body so frequently.

I have not done the clay treatment. Is that worthwhile on a new car? Build date was in 8/23/06. I assumed the clay treatment was for older cars to remove contaminants.

The Mothers site says you can actually hear the clay pulling contaminants from the paint!!! If anyone cares to describe what this sounds like I would be interested to learn what it sounds like! http://www.waxforum.com/showthread.php?t=960

you cant hear clay pulling contaniments off the paint. You can feel it though. If your claying a contaminated surface, there is going to be resistance to the clay moving. If the paint is contamination-free, the movement will be smooth and the clay will glide across the paint.

I do recommend that you clay a brand new car. You never know what the car has been through before it arrived in your driveway. Also, if the car was transported, rail dust is a big concern. It should take 15-20 minutes to clay a whole car, so why wouldn't you do it?

Why was it a bad idea on this car? Is that a joke or a concern?
