Windex can be used if it is diluted but used full-strength will eat up the wiper blades fast.

The amonia in windex is very bad for the painted surfaces of the car. Most windshield washer solvents are a safely diluted water and isopropyl alcohol based product. Stick with those.

^^ newspaper is good to avoid streaking.

I use rain-x wipes and rain-x washer fluid (winter formula obviously in MN). The ammonia in windex is not good for other parts of the car and would most likely strip the wax off of areas it comes into contact with regularly.

I suggest that one uses Rain-x and newspaper, along with the Rain-x washerfluid additive. that is what I use. I does suck though when a bug hits your window and you let it sit, because when it does rain it will leave a line down your window, if you don't wipe it off.

Tell ya what, go to the store and price Windex at 1 gallon. Then go and price Windshield Washer Fluid at 1 gallon. You'd be nutz and loco at the same time to buy Windex. It's almost double the price.
