Since last year's calendar was in black and white, this year our theme is going to be COLOR! I want you to find something that matches your Scion's paint color and take a photo. If you have a Hot Lava xB then find something orange, if you have a Silver tC then find something silver, etc. It doesn't matter what the object is. If you have a blue tC and think that the sky is a good match, then go for it. Black and white cars aren't screwed in this color-themed contest, as long as you can find something black or white to photograph the car with. Shouldn't be too hard.

When you have taken your photos you need to either upload them to a hosting service (like www.flickr.com) and link to them here or email them to me: darren@scionlife.com. There is no limit on the number of submissions. Previous winners CAN enter this contest. Image sizes need to be AT LEAST 1024x768. Just set your camera for maximum resolution and that should be fine.

Do NOT post the fullsize photo in this topic as it will create some chaos with the communications. Its tough to talk about the photos when the photos are taking up the whole page! Also, make sure you include these four things with each set of photos:
- The full name and city/state of the vehicle owner
- The ScionLife username of the vehicle owner (if a SL member)
- The full name and web link of the photographer (if not the owner)
- The year and color of the car

The calendar layout will be similar to last years, with vertical photos. This means that you should lay out your photo vertically... turn that camera sideways! Feel free to submit horizontal photos also, I can crop them to fit the calendar. Last year I used ALL horizontal photos and cropped them to be vertical. Let me give you an example...

Of course, the easiest way to make sure that your photo will work vertically is just to turn the camera sideways when you take the original shot!

Judging will be up to Troy and me based on the following:
- Resolution: make sure the photos are large enough for printing
- Layout: your car doesn't need to be in the middle, or even completely shown
- Color: the theme is color, get it right!
- Lighting: take the photo on a cloudy day and it will turn out better
- Focus: obviously we aren't going to choose giant blurry images
- Creativity: impress us, we want to see some style!
- Modifications: we like tricked out cars a little more, but stock is OK

I want to STRESS STRESS STRESS that I would love to see photos that contain SOMETHING ELSE as the main object, with the Scion in the background, etc. So, for example, a closeup of a cactus with your green Scion peeking around the corner would be awesome. Or something along those lines.

I get confused easily and if people start posting links to non-submissions then it makes more work for me. Feel free to discuss and chit chat, but keep the linking to your official submissions. Thanks.

Hmm this will be interesting. I'm definitely doing this one, if nothing else this will be FUN!

Darren -- That pic wasnt photoshopped at all man. Its a slight overexposure in B&W inside a white studio... Fooled ya!

 

Hehe.. yes, you did fool me. Looks like it was shot in B&W, though... and I am looking for color photos, even if they are of a black, silver or white car.

 

Its all good man. I will be doing a specific shoot for this calender idea. What if I shoot in color but it looks like B&W? I know, Im a pain in the....

 

I can tell if its color or B&W... but remember that our theme this year is color. TCM IS A COLOR! Hehe.

 

TCM is boring and everybody knows it.... J/K I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the guidance.
