Default 56K

All these pic threads that warn 56K users...

But who the hell still uses 56K? Isn't it only a couple bucks cheaper than DSL? I bet even al qaeda living in mountains and tunnels has broadband... Most people don't drive cars as ancient as 56K technology! I hope I havn't offended those of you who are hugging your VCR's, 8 tracks, and 486DX computers...

Now where is that 5.25" floppy disk I misplaced...

Time to log into the ScionLife BBS board.

I disagree with the 56k rant djct. Not all areas have affordable high speed. I can't get DSL in my area and my only option is cable internet from a little, and I mean little, cable provider. Just in the past year, they've changed their prices to something that wasn't just $60 (packages, different speeds available). I couldn't afford $60 for the longest time and peoplepc was only like $5 or something a month.

and there are lotsa dummies that buy a "cheap $199 computer" and you only have to buy MSN dialup for 26.95 a month for 4 years.

there are still lots of older ppl at my work that have dialup.

I have to laugh at all of those threads with warnings for 56k users too. If you are still using dial-up, you don't deserve a warning that my thread will lock up your computer for an hour.

Come on, don't hate on 56K. Some people don't have the options of $24 high speed, some people can only get the $60 high speed which to me is way too much. I still dial up at home, but I also work around 12 hours a day and have T-1 so my home computer is pretty much a hard drive for digital pics from my camera and that's about it.

I too am sick of threads that are all like "zomg if u 56k then u out of luck!!11`~~~ lolzwtfbbq"

I think its very silly and quite frankly, rather immature. I'm pretty sure most people do it because they think its "cool" or somehow betters their thread title. Just put a title and post your content! That's all there is to this weird thing they call the "interweb"

Umm... ok. If you have dial-up, then why are you browsing through image threads anyway? Even if you want to check out a few pics, then I think you'll figure that out once you open the page - it'll slow down a lot.

No biggie, just hit the back button. I had dial-up for years before I was finally able to get cable... so I'm all too familiar.

And yes, I even had dial up back in the days of "free" - you know, bluelight, netzero, Juno Oh man, those were the days.

Yeah...you're right. I was mostly kidding. I work with a guy who lives way out in the boonies. There is no cable for cable modem and he's too far from a switch to get DSL. He's pretty-much stuck with dial-up too. But like you said, we have a T-1 at work, so he does have access to high speed when he really needs it.

My other post didn't go through (stupid blackberry... But it connects at 144K)...

I have a horrible sense of sarcasm and don't mean to intentionally flame 56K users...

Let's just reminiss about old technology. Mmmm... I remember the days when 14.4 was FAST!

I will admit though, I do not even attempt to get on this forum with a 56k it's useless. So I guess I get paid to post on Scion Life, I only get on here at work......Pretty sweet deal.

you know, there was a time when dial up was "hi tech"....
Heck, I can even remember playing a video game that had incredible graphics, and was called a 4 letter word.
Yep, that's right: PONG.

We joke about the so called "hi speed" we have now, but i'm sure i'm not the only one who still thinks it's far too slow...
