Al Gore will deliver a message with your name to Congress.
http://www.algore.com/cards.html
On March 21st, I will testify before Congress on the immediate action that needs to be taken to end the climate crisis. At the hearing, I will deliver the 294,374 messages you signed, demonstrating that hundreds of thousands of people share my sense of urgency.
If an additional 55,626 people sign our message, it will be as though 350,000 of us are there at the hearing expressing our determination to convince Congress to act. Having served in the House and Senate, I can tell you that members of these committees would find this to be a meaningful and impressive show of support.
There are only 5 days left before the hearings begin, so please do not pass up this opportunity to join in showing the broad public support we need in order to solve the climate crisis. I know you have friends or family who care deeply about this issue but have yet to sign our message to Congress.
Ask them to help fill that committee room with 350,000 messages by visiting:

The reason Congress has so far failed to act is not because there are no solutions to the problem. Nor is it because the majority doesn't believe that the climate crisis is real. They have failed to act, because they have not yet faced a sufficient expression of political will on the part of the American people demanding they confront our climate crisis head on. You and I know that political will is a renewable resource, and enough already exists to start solving this crisis. We just have to communicate that forcefully to the political leaders of our country.
In the last two weeks alone 101,673 people visited AlGore.com and signed our message to Congress. This is an incredible demonstration of the energy behind this issue.
In my testimony, of course, I will speak about the scientific evidence for global warming - just reiterated six weeks ago by the world's scientists in the latest report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. But frankly, the debate on the science has long been over - except for a diminishing number of skeptics and deniers.
At this point, it is far more important to deliver your message about the urgency with which this crisis must be faced. Political leaders need to know that you intend to reward those who do the right thing and that you will work to replace those who do not.
That's why it's vital we fill up the hearing room with 350,000 messages.
Please ask your friends to sign our message to Congress today by visiting:

Together we are building a movement that has the potential to translate your strong feelings into effective change for our country. And we all know that when the United States changes - and offers leadership - the entire world will follow.
Thank you,
Al Gore

I wonder if he will also include a copy of his personal electric bill. You know, the one from his mansion which is 18 times higher than the electric bill of the average american household.
The thing is, I believe in what he is saying. We do need to take much better care of the environment and start to conserve energy wherever possible. He just doesn't practice what he preaches.

You should really read the whole news story before you state something inaccuarate like that.
He pays more also because he uses alternative energy and that unfortunately is more expensive.
That was a smear to slow things down a bit for him and the follow up story staightened it out.

the family tries to offset that carbon footprint by purchasing their power through the local Green Power Switch program — electricity generated through renewable resources such as solar, wind, and methane gas, which create less waste and pollution. "In addition, they are in the midst of installing solar panels on their home, which will enable them to use less power," Kreider added. "They also use compact fluorescent bulbs and other energy efficiency measures and then they purchase offsets for their carbon emissions to bring their carbon footprint down to zero."

So let me get this straight.....You can use the energy if you have enough money to pay(or in Gore's case, A company pays them for you) plant enough trees to offset the energy use. So basically, if you are rich, you can use all you want as long as you buy "Carbon Offsets", but if your not so rich or just flat broke what should you do, stop using energy all together?
???? How many trees do you have to plant in order to offset the use of a private jet flying all over the country to tell people how people are causing Global Warming????
Viva La ManBearPig!!!!

What's really funny is in my line of work the International Codes for buildings are now pushing a new LEEDS program which is a point system that is based on how the building's design conserves and reduces the amount or energy and resources it uses, but what is doesn't take into account is the added energy, materials, and upkeep it takes to keep this expensive systems running.
For example a rain water and or grey water (lavatory and shower waste) systems require the water to be treated before it can be used again (to lets say flush a toilet). In addition it also requires a entirely new piping system and booster pumps to distribute the water (which equals more energy and materials which in turn use energy at the production plants).
Now don't get me wrong I think the idea of green systems is great and it does help to reduce some energy usage, but I don't know if all ends were considered.

"The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average.
Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.
Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.
Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year. "
Kilowatt usage varies greatly between homes. His usage doesn't entirely shock me as I know that the differences between homes make people's energy usage vastly different.
His home, I imagine, is quite larger than ours. This bill includes the "Mansion AND a guest house" and we're shocked he uses a lot of kilowatts? Do we know what kind of heat he uses? Does he have a pool or a hot tub? Does he have a lot of out door lights (probably for security)? Did he have guests/parties where extra usage of stoves, lights, entertainment and such were required? How many people lived and have lived in his house?
All those are HUGE variables.
All things considered, did he still use too much energy? Maybe. Does that mean he's not allowed to be concerned for the environment? Should he NOT be bothered to make a change then? Should we all sit around with our thumbs securely implanted in our butts and wait for oh holy thou person to represent us?
Non-hypocrite politicians are seemingly always in short supply. A politician not practicing what he's preaching concerning household energy use, just don't make me flinch.
