To All SLR Owners...
Just wanted all your input...i'm looking into getting a digital slr, but need a little help picking which one...its up between the cannon eos rebel xsi, the nikon d60, or the nikon d40...
can you just give me a little input on what you think especially if you have them...i'm leaning towards the cannon rebel...

This thread has the makings of a Canon vs. Nikon trash talking war. I may sound biased because I shoot with a Canon (It was all about available lenses when I made my choice.) But the reality is I know nothing about the Nikons so I'll let everyone else give you their opinion on their experiences with both. Good luck!
I've owned Canon's my whole photography life. Went from a Canon Rebel (film) to a Canon Elan 7e (film) to a Canon 10d DSLR to the current body Canon 5D. I wouldn't switch to another brand even if it was free. I LOVE Canon and its ease of u. All of the buttons are laid out where they would feel natural in ur hand. All of the bodies have Autofocus motor built in so u don't have to buy a specific lens that has AF on it. I've never had one single problem out of any of my Canon products.
I say go for the xsi. I've heard and seen great things bout it.

I shoot Nikon but my recommendation would be to go to a camera store and pick up the d40, d60, xt, xsi, etc to see which one you like the feel to more. Also play around to the the cameras and find one that you like and feels natural to you.

With that said, if you're a casual shooter and just looking to step up to a DSLR, neither of these units will disappoint.

<<< exactly. I'd go for the canon just b/c i've always shot canon and for the fact that the canon has AF motor built into the body. >>>
And that's a good point and probably important to some people, especially those experienced people coming from a film SLR and they already have several Canon lenses they can use them on their new DSLR and still maintain the AF feature.
I didn't start getting serious about photography until recently so that didn't matter to me. Any new lens I purchase will have the drive built in to the lens. Speaking of which, I recently acquired a Tamron 18-300mm and wow what a lens!

Go to a store and play with the cameras. I picked up a D40 and was able to figure things out right away. I picked up a Canon and was completely lost. I found the Nikon to be much easier to use, that's what led me to picking it over the Canon.
^x2....i like my d40 a lot. one thing is that it doesnt have a built in AF motor due to the size of the camera. but then again i was playing around with my buddy's d200 and holy ____ that thing is huge. way too big for my preference, i wanna be able to walk around during shows, park, around the city taking pics w/o feeling that the camera its too big/heavy.
like others have said, it depends on what you like and feel more comfortable with.
