Man Found With 40-Foot Light Pole Strapped To Minivan
A man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly trying to sell a county-owned light pole he found lying on the street. The pole was missing from Biscayne Boulevard, police said.
When Miami police pulled over 42-year-old Elio Valero, he had a 40-foot light pole strapped to the top of his minivan. He happened to be in front of a scrap yard. He did have some consideration for other motorists; he tied a red flag on each end of the pole.
The owner of Miami Recovery & Recycling says Valero wanted several hundred dollars in cash for the pole. Valero told police that times are hard and people need to do what they have to do to survive.
