Another Global Warning Theory & It's Not What You Think!
I was buzzing aroung foxnews.com this morning and found this article on global warming. I had never heard this before....

Hurricane Forecaster: Oceans Cause Global Warming, Not CO2

DENVER —
Hurricane forecaster William Gray said Friday that global ocean currents, not human-produced carbon dioxide, are responsible for global warming, and the Earth may begin to cool on its own in five to 10 years.
Gray, a Colorado State University researcher best known for his annual forecasts of hurricanes along the U.S. Atlantic coast, also said increasing levels of carbon dioxide won't produce more or stronger hurricanes.
He said that over the past 40 years the number of major hurricanes making landfall on the U.S. Atlantic coast has declined even though carbon dioxide levels have risen.
Gray, speaking to a group of Republican state lawmakers, had harsh words for researchers and politicians who say man-made greenhouse gases are responsible for global warming.
"They're blaming it all on humans, which is crazy," he said. "We're not the cause of it."
Many researchers believe warming is causing hurricanes to get stronger, while others aren't sure.
Gray complained that politics and research into global warming have created "almost an industry" that has unfairly frightened the public and overwhelmed dissenting voices.
He said research arguing that humans are causing global warming is "mush" based on unreliable computer models that cannot possibly take into account the hundreds of factors that influence the weather.
Gray said little-understood ocean currents are behind a decades-long warming cycle and disputed assertions that greenhouse gases could raise global temperatures as much as some scientists predict.
"There's no way that doubling CO2 is going to cause that amount of warming," he said.
Gray also said warming and cooling trends cannot go on indefinitely and believes temperatures are beginning to level out after a very warm year in 1998.
"We're going to begin to see some cooling," he said.

Here's my take: It was from Fox News. He was speaking to Republicans.
I don't know why he was only speaking to Republicans, and only Fox News is picking this up, but it's already sounding fishy at best, and biased fanaticism at worst.
I don't know anything about this cat Gray, but he seems to be alone. And when you stand alone in the scientific community it means one of two things: Either genius or insanity. and genius is often difficult to discern from insanity.
So, IOW, there is nothing earth shattering here, just something to raise eyebrows and make me want to keep my eye open for some research that will back this up.

This is the first time that I have heard about this thoery as well. I wouldn't quite say that he stands alone, but being skeptical is always a good thing. As a hurricane forecaster he is much more intuitive about how the weather works than your average joe, which is why I'm sure he makes the claim about the hundreds of factors that account for the changes in the weather.
Who knows? When I was a kid I was told I would freeze to death in an ice age, now we're all going to burn alive. We are a society that loves to live in fear, and Al Gore loves to throw wood into the furnace to keep that fire going!

The theory of ocean currents isn't new. It's actually part of what scientist think causes and ends ice ages.
Its the theory behind the book: The Coming Global Superstorm. Which was the basis for the movie: The Day After Tommorow.
Humans probably contribute to global warming, but nature does more than we ever could. Volcano's are much more destructive to the atmosphere than we ever could be.
They only have accurate scientific data for less than 100 years as far as temperature variants. And while they have theories they don't know what causes global warming. They don't even know for sure what begins the shift that leads to the cyclical ice ages.

in another couple thousand years there will be another ice age so who really gives a ****...
we won't be here, eventually the human race will die out and there's nothing we can do about it..

Apparently Arctic Islands had climates like florida millions of years ago. They say it was caused by natural climate shifts. More proof, we don't aren't the primary cause of global warming/cooling.

This article is from FoxNews you know it's bias right there~!
Fact, the Vice President always have a request to have any hotel that he stays in to have the channel to be switched on to FoxNew.....
Sure FoxNews shows two sides.... The president's side and the vice president's side. LOL (Taken from Steven Colbert's Bush Roast Speech)
Here's my lil break down on the bias on news on networks...
ABC.... More central.
CBS... liberal
FOX... conservative
CNN... tiny bit conservative
That's my lil thread jack of the day.

^^^ You might be right. Each network takes and airs a story depending on how "news worthy" and how would it would help their ratings. It also depends on whether if it's cable or prime time news.
I think CNN might give something about it.... since it's part of the Fox famiily.
Research on this is actually nothing new, but for FoxNews to cherry pick it out of the hundreds of research already done is a big of a concern. Does FoxNews post up research on the other side where as human is to blame?

Those guys are not the cheap news broadcasters, breaking news unless they happen to be on.

I ask you, why doesn't the President watch any other news station? Ever? I don't care how good of news any network has, in order to get the full picture you have to take in other sources. I'll tell you why it's the only news channel he watches, because it's the only one that will consistently toss him softball questions to make him look good and never ask him anything tough. Watching the Pres and VP on that channel is like watching a corporate propaganda ra ra film.
This global warming story interests me, and I am glad it was put here because the science on global warming is not out, there is not 100% agreement on it.
I don't know why the president does not watch any other news station, I have not heard that fox is all he watches. I am not the president nor do I think for him. I am stating thier news cast, mainly special report with britt hume is not bias, Hannity, o'rilley etc etc is but they are not reporting news, they are offering commentary, and it is bias. There is a difference. Katie Couric offers commentary but claims she is reporting news.
