yes that is true its a better working version of vista....i heard that they incorporated how to mac icons on a mac appear on the task bat they did then in win 7 on the taskbar..you can fade through the programs..but i do have to say theres alot of improvments with this version....
I've been running Win7 since early last year and it's much more than an improved Vista. It's like Xp but with with a Vista look. I would suggest going to play with a computer that has Win7 and see for yourself. It's much faster, hogs less mem, and does what you want it to do haha
i been running window 7 Ultimate 64 bit version for 3 weeks. It is very good
. The pc can use more than 3.5 gig of memory now. And no problem with my most of my games: Batman Arkham Asylum, Assassin's Creed, SF4, Steam, and GTA4,
Only game didn't run full screen is Steam's new Killing Floor. (don't know if that have anything to do with my Dual monitor setup)
The Window 7 's control panel is very easy to config. I got pc with dual monitor. another one with language totally config to chinese. (display and input). and another one connect to TV.
It took me less than 5 minutes to config the display for the panasonic lcd tv. Changing the resolution and size was a snap. While in window xp took me while for use the ati driver to config the resolution and size for the lcd tv

Played around with the RCs of it before... and planned on upgrading eventually. I've been an XP user forever - but work will eventually be moving to 7 and I figured wth.
Speeding things along was my main hard drive dying this past Friday. Yay for warranty. But once that died, I pulled the trigger on Win7 Pro x64 from Newegg. Got an OEM copy for $135. First Microsoft OS I've actually purchased. Just installed it last night.
So far so good. Since I used Vista before and have also played with the RCs of 7, there isn't a whole lot of adjustment for me. Clean install on the new drive only took 20 minutes and I've just been fiddling and making sure to get my programs installed and such - and making sure I get 64bit versions if they're out there. I've only found a few useful ones so far though.
I like it so far... but after only about 24 hours of real usage, I'll wait before I really make any sort of claim on its usefulness and functionability.

Upgraded all 6 machines to 7. Actually seems to work better in tests than my Ubuntu does. The driver issues have pretty much been solved. Plugged in a 9 year old printer that did not work with Vista, and 7 found the drivers and installed them just from me plugging the printer in. Well worth the upgrade. I have done maybe 1000 upgrades for this at work and all went smooth except 2; 1 I installed Kaspersky 2010 BEFORE upgrading and it BSOD, 2nd the power plug came loose and it died during install and could not recover. AV, iTunes (crap), dinky windows games, and some random programs will need to be upgraded or reinstalled after an upgrade but that is pretty much it.
The multitouch support in win 7 is really nice, just plug in a touch screen and it configures and installed without any interaction. Just get Professional or higher to get the real benefits, like XP emulator and Windows Home Server 2007.

I was running the RC on my Old laptop and i loved it. I was supposed to get a free upgrade with my new laptop but every time I go to Microsoft's site and fill out the upgrade request it never goes through. If i cant get it for free ill just buy it. I think it's worth it.
