i like editing too. i think thats what i wanna do "when i grow up". I bought an XL2 a few months ago so i could go shoot stuff to edit. I've been shooting some random car shows and stuff but those are getting kind of boring. i need to find some other stuff to shoot.

you could offer your services to photographers and/or models. you can record "behind the scenes" footage of shoots and whatnot that the photographer or model could use on their website.
hmm...or you could do weddings at a slightly cheaper rate then any other videographers in the area.

thats a good idea. never really thought about doing the behind the scenes thing. i have thought about doing weddings and i've shot a couple but thats too much responsibility. i mean i have nothing against responsibility but to miss "that one shot" would suck a$$. I'm thinking about making videos of peoples cars and incorporate their businesses and stuff in with it so they can play them in the monitors during car shows. I think that would be pretty cool

check out www.scionscene.blogspot.com I think the idea of bringing events, etc. to the web in realtime is very cool... I am NOT a videographer...I think videoblogging is an emerging trend. Technology is moving the PC and cell phone together...

I am an editor... but work full-time in HDDVD/Blu-Ray QC. I bought a GL2 a few months ago just to learn to get used to using a camera. I have been editing behind-the-scenes stuff and its pretty fun. Just a little challenging to finding a story in raw footage.

wow. blu-ray huh? thats sweet! a lot of buzz going around about that stuff. what kind of behind the scenes stuff do you usually edit? are you on movie sets or is it more of like an independent thing?

I'm currently working on some bts stuff for a Black Eyed Peas video. Sorta like "Making of the Video" type. Here's a link to the music video, its in Tagalog (Filipino). The BTS stuff will hopefully come soon.

These kind of projects are pretty much independent. I know the main editor of the video, and he knew that I wanted to get into editing. I usually just get the footage from the people that shoot the footage (if I didn't shoot it.) I wasn't there on set.. I had to work. I'm trying to get a steady gig as an editor.. it's kinda hard right now.

well Nick as you know I dabble in Video editing myself :-p. Nah, i have an associates in multimedia - digital video production. I've done many weddings but really like doing car shows, anything i can add music over to create a feel or mood, trick videography and photography to make people see something in a way they might not have looked at it before. I'll get the link to the AZ350Z video we shot together up soon

yeah you would think there's alot of work here. but there are also alot of editors trying to do the same thing. But i think it all really depends on what you're into. There's probaby more work in reality tv than any other.. .just because that type of programming has been pretty hot that past couple years. Hopefully that'll change soon.

I'm not sure if this is the same type of thing, but my younger brother (lives in SC) is a court videographer. He does video depositions for law firms and stuff like that. He seems to really like it.

thats pretty cool! kinda crazy how all the different boxes show up and stuff. kind of hard to focus on one thing but it still looks cool!

Thanks. My main idea was going off of 24, and the whole 4 boxes so u can see whats going on at all times, and then focus in on something specific. that video was my first video ever made using premiere for the first time ( with out ne knowledge lol ) so i think it turned out well.
