They are blank plastic figures that you can paint/cut/sculpt. Kidrobot.com sells them.

$25 for a blank?!? make it a tenth that price, and you'd make it a bigger trend.

 

Actually, these are already a big trend. Munny shows usaully draw a good crowd as well as some of the more well known artists.

 

well, no offense, but a project/hobby where you are just customizing something cute/trendy, instead of fully creating it(even though your wife's is pretty dope) should be targeted to the 11-15 year old crowd(not that our age group wouldn't be into this). Is this a japanese thing?

 

Nope....this is pretty nation wide. I see this the same as customizing anything else. You dont have to build a car from scratch to make it your own.

 

Is Munny pronounced like "money"? It seems like it...and that's funny since the blank vinyl costs $25. The sure seems like a lot of money for a Munny.
I think it's an interesting 'canvas' for the artist, though.

 

"OMG Frank, we're gonna be millionaires, charging $25 for these plain plastic figurines. But what should we call it?"

$25 isnt really alot of money. And its just a fun outlet for creativity.

They come with random accesories, like glasses, a sword and stuff. But everything else is made.

 

Munny's are pretty cool. The trend started in Japan, but there is a whole urban vinyl toy culture out there. They are pretty big with graffiti artists in the US. I've seen some really kick *ss customs.

 

Hey man I am currently making $9.50/hour I am saying my that I will be bumped up to $10.50/hour. I wasn't hatin' on them. I said it was an interesting 'canvas' for the artist. I, personally, would rather spend that money on something more practical is all.
