"Back in the day" definition
So today I went to the grocery store today and while I am standing inline, some <14 year old thugged out white kid was telling his <11 year old little brother about "Back in the day, he remembers..."
I didn't catch exactly what he was saying, but how can any kid born in the 80s or 90s remember anything "back in the day"? When was this day in "back in the day" for this 14 year old, the year 2000?
same with "old school". Shouldn't there be some sort of agreed upon definition?
I am wondering at what age are you allowed to start saying b.s. like, "I remember when people used phone lines to get on the internet."

Dude, the year 2000 was back in the day!
That's why there's the word "Way" when talking about something further back in the day... The use of the word "Way" is critical. How you say, or how long you hold it, defines how far back you're talkin'.
Like WAAAAAY back in the day! Which, at my age, is only like 1993

times are changing so fast with the way information travels. nearly everybody has a cell phone with a camara, or a digi cam, or some other form or personal recording device, reality tv, email and hybrid cars. some lexus owners don't even have to park their cars anymore. it is scary when i look at my laptop and think about how much faster it is compared to the first computer my family owned when i was in elementary school that cost way too much.
Its all relative. To a 5 year old, back in the day he was crapping in diapers. To a 84 year old, back in the day she was a hot young muffin.
So its relative to age. But also to individual. eg. For me (i'm actually 26, scrwd up my date and forgot to fix) back in the day was high school (late 90s) keg parties in the woods and getting in trouble doing a variety of stupid things.
WAY back in the day (80s) was watching smurfs and He-Man, wearing tube socks and the alligator polo shirts and always having a red fruit juice ring around my mouth.
I guess to a 90 year old, they may have even more definitions....

back in the day for me was when those little plastic flat cords (usually of 4) that we overlapped to make those squared key chain things.
***someone help me out and tell me what they used to call it***
and pogs
then again back in the day was when cartoons used to be great like xmen, transformers, spiderman, ninja turtles (the old and best ones).
if I ever referred to what I mentioned above I would use the phase "back in the day", personally I think snot nose kids don't have a right to say it, they just aren't old enough to know what the 'day' used to be like.

Actually I don't know if everyone has heard it but Burger King has been airing a radio commercial boasting their chicken biscuit and it reminded me about this topic, because it was talking about how your grandfather would say "back in our day..." kind of ironic.
