The answer is Goes down. When the rock is in the boat, you are displacing the weight of the rock. When you dump into the water, you only displace the volume of the rock instead of the weight. Since the rock sinks, the volume of the rock (filled with water) is not as much as the equvalent weight of rock with water. So yeah... it goes down.

Wouldn't it depend on what kind of rock it is? Some types of rockes weigh more than others ie limestone and granite, or others.
What i am say is that 2 rocks cut to the same size can weight alot different.
I could be wrong thought because after all i am just average on the smart meter.

^^ Its not just the weight of the rock, its the volume, But this is actualy a trick question, it depends on how big/heavy/ boyant the "boat" is. But 9 times out of 10, the water level will go down
