Is there anything speical to consider when installing a cold air intake? Just curious if it causes any potential problems....

 

Do you drive through deep water or flooding areas alot? If not, i'd reconsider getting one, as the intake is USUALLY lower the the ground and sucks up water if it gets the chance....water in engine=baddddddd

 

how does it affect gas milage?

 

it should stay the same unless you lay your foot into it

 

which you will....prolly, that's the biggest complaint I've seen "I love the sound so much that I can't help lettin' 'er rip sometimes.....and by "sometimes" I mean whenever I get the chance."

The bypass valve will prevent "hydro lock"
Since the intake follows down the wheel well it could possibly become submerged. Like a deep puddle or something. The last thing that you want is it to suck up water into the engine. The bypass valve prevents this by redirecting the air flow, if the filter does become submerged.
Better safe then sorry.
