Default Car Broken into for the SNS or Radar..

This morning I wake up around 6:30 getting ready to go to work. When i go outside I come to find out that someone has broken the drivers sides window. Right then I knew what they had wanted to take, which is the Scion Navigation System. But unfortunately they didn't take it, I'm guessing they couldn't get the
other screws out and said f*** it or they just didn't have enough time. The only thing that they did take was my Escort Passport 8500 Radar. Good thing i took my iPod out of the center console. But I did have some pocket change, a couple of dollar bills that they didn't take and my USB 8GB flash drive. So I called
the police and got a police report, they said they were going to have the crime scene come out and try to get some finger prints but since it rained that night, they knew they wouldn't get anything from it. Also I Thought that my car was protected with the Scion Security System but that failed, according to the
manual its suppose to go off when the glass breaks or anything like that but it sure didn't.

Oh and I found my gas door open and the gas cap unscrewed. Which is funny because my gas light turned on that night right before I came up. Also found a long piece of hair right above the drivers door handle and a hair tie on the floor.

I know how you feel man, I have had three of my cars broken into, it just gives you a funny feeling. Thieves are the lowest of low lifes.

One of the first things I upgraded was the security system because I heard from a lot of people the stock one is garbage.

So they opened your gas cap?
I'd try and get the cops to get a finger print off of the lever that opens the gas cap.
They might have been arrested before, so they'd be in that database, you never know

There's gotta be fingerprints on the waterfall and probably around the navi.

No its any 2008, and ill sell it to you if there going to replace it (hopefully). Going to the dealership Tuesday since i got school and work all day tomorrow and asking them why the F*** did not my alarm go off like it says in the manual. I mean isn't that the point of an alarm system?

Ill keep you guys posted on what they have to say about that when I go up there. Most likely going to be looking into an aftermarket alarm system when I get my car fixed. Anyone know any good alarms systems that WORK, since i've never looked into them yet.

I got a Scytek Astra 777... apparently (coming from a professional installer) it is an awesome alarm for the money. Its a 2way, and does an awesome job. Sensitivity is very adjustable for vibration, etc.

Window tint looks cool and all, but possibly the reason y the scion security didnt react to it. The Scion Security will go off when it detects a certain range of frequency. Your tint will "muffle" the sound and possibly change the frequency of glass breaking. Tint also holds the glass together thus making less noise

You got a valid point there, but it doesn't say no on the manual that window tints will cause the alarm to not go off nor was i told when i had bought the car. But before i even had window tints, i actually tried to make the car alarm go off by tapping the glass with a key and nothing had happened.

Sorry about the break in. I know how much it sucks, damn thieves broke into my 240SX. Well I have an Autopage, I don't know the model but it has a nice feature that let's you turn the siren off so the alarm goes off silently and alerts you via alarm pager.
What I like about that is that if anyone is ever to try to break into one of my cars again I will be alerted without them knowing and I can come out Locked And Loaded. I know i sound a bit extreme but oh well.

Wow. The thief probably didn't bother with the SNS cuz it would take more time to take the GPS antenna out than the entire SNS unit.
So sorry your car got vandalized over a $100 radar detector.
