Cars that Toyota should bring to Scion
Was just glancing at Toyota Japans line up and saw a lot of cars I would be interested in besides the xD :
Toyota Blade : Cool little hatch back that looks a lot like the Starlet and packs the 2AZ-FE
Toyota Mark X Zio : Pimp Mini Van with sharp lines and looks really sporty. Hey some 'young' consumers are in the need of family cars also and wanna stay youthful with their car.
Toyota Vellfire : Another mini van thats just screaming for attention.
Toyot Ractis : Would have been the perfect replacement for the Scion xA. Shares a lot of body lines with the old ist.
What do you guys think?

See, the only problem that I see is that we already have American variants of those cars. I said this in the "Scion doubling lineup?" thread, but I'll repost it here.
I'm going to fathom a guess that maybe the reason the xB2 and the xD aren't fairing very well with us Scion enthusiasts is that, well, we've seen them before.
The xB2 is a bigger xB1.
The xD is a bigger xA.
The upcoming Hako is an uglier xB.
It's almost like they've fallen into the American mindset that killed Ford and Chevy of "hey, people like these vehicles... if we make them bigger, they'll like them more!" and "hey, people like this vehicle... lets make different ones that are still the same!" Saturn fell into that when they started, too, and they completely lost sight of what they were doing in the first place. And look what happened to them.
You know what? We don't need another xB. We don't need a bigger xA. Give us different cars. I don't think anyone would disagree that the formula they had of "lets bring foreign cars to niche American markets" worked. The ist, the bB, and the Avensis... in their rebadged forms... were all hits over here and created a profitable company. Why would ever you do anything other than "fill niche American markets" after that? If it works, don't try and fix it! Don't try and design cars for us, because this entire site is all about people who took what you gave them and designed cars for themselves. Most of us all got our cars in the first place because they were small, cheap, and different; three things the xB2, the xD (to a degree), and the Hako are all violating.
Now, assuming that Scion's fanbase wants truly different (and inexpensive) cars, and not more of the same stuff (that just costs more), here's what I think Scion should import to bolster it's sales and regain it's image:

The Aygo. These would do so well in large cities. Hell, look at the Smart cars! We really don't have a true city car here in America, and with gas getting up to $80,372 per gallon, and Yukon XL's and Escalade ESV's still clogging up the parking lots... well, I think a city car would do well over here. It's also, comparatively, about $13k.

The Porte. Never mind the color. If you've ever seen a Peugeot 1007, this is basically the same car... except better. Give us two sliding doors (instead of one sliding and one hinged, as it is now) on it, and I think this car could be a recipe for another "dare to be different" success. Unfortunately, it toes that $17k line.
Now, those two being said, the third suggestion I was going to make would have been a rear-wheel drive coupe. I want something that the tuning market can go wild with, but doesn't stray over the 20k line. I want something that's more than just "a rear-wheel drive car". I want something that's going to turn heads and cameras and bra straps. Toyota, you really want to be different?

Give us this. Make the MR-S the tC replacement. Tell Hyundai that they aren't the only ones that can make cheap RWD cars, and tell them that they put the engine in the wrong place. You are going to see lines around the block for the Genesis once it's released, and a lot of tC owners are going to be in that if you don't give them an alternative.

The Aygo looks like a four door variant of the Yaris hatchback. Scion doesn't need a model to compete with their Toyota line-up.
And the last MR-2 was an immediate failure because it was a convertible. If they remade the previous gen MR-2 then it would be interesting. Even though the Hyundai Genesis looks good, I would never buy one simply because it's a Hyundai. I don't expect it to do as well as some people think for the cost.

About the Genesis, though... I think with all the hype that it's gotten, it'll probably do better than you think. I honestly have high hopes for it.
mr-s didn't survive because it didn't offer as much cargo space as its main competitor, the miata. as far has handling is concerned mr-s was superior but that market tends to be for old people who want something small and sporty while going on road trips etc. i think the ractis is a good equivalent of the xA. I think xA lost a lot of its specialness because it was no different from the more trendy xB. the mark x would get a lot of attention because us market doesnt have a sporty mini van, its all marketed for soccer moms etc. we never got the quirky starlet either so it would be interesting to see something like it introduced

That Vellfire is quite possibly the ugliest vehicle I have ever seen.

How is the tC a competitor of the Genesis? The tC is geared towards young people that want to upgrade their vehicle and have their own unique ride. The Genesis is clearly going for an older crowd that doesn't have an interest in interior led lighting and pimpin their ride.

Are you kidding me about the Genesis?

That is marketed towards an older crowd that isn't interested in modifying a car? Hell, Hyundai even modified that concept themselves: "The car featured a vented carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber "ground effects" lip kit, carbon fiber fog light surround, carbon fiber roof, a carbon fiber spoiler, and carbon fiber diffuser for weight saving and aesthetic reasons." I'm also not too sure you appeal to the "older crowd" by unveiling a car doing burnouts and power slides, either.

Aha! I see the discrepancy now; we're thinking about two different cars. You're talking about the Sedan. I'm talking about the Coupe.
