Cars you just flat out don't like
Keeping it simple-
Beetles- old OEMs have especially scary suspensions; all have poor interiors
Smart car- one word = anemic
There would just be too many to list. For starters, just look at offerings from 1980-1990; this was a time of few worthy vehicles.

Eh.. .the older saturns are more reliable than tons of other cars on the road. They arent exiting cars, but great little get around town cars. I know plenty of them that have had less work than similar year model hondas.
My dad had a couple of customers with 90's models ones.
One had 180,000 miles before the first issue (leaking radiator) and was driven by a college age girl who didnt take good care of it.
Another I think had about 160,000 miles on it. Nothing but oil changes and maintenance.
My step moms has been like a little tank (94 model).
I knew someone at a dealer up here that did the regular service on a 95 model SC2 that had 240,000 miles on it with nothing but wear and tear items (brakes, oil changes, etc).
My 96 model has had a clutch replaced, idle air control solenoid and an alternator replaced in 180,000 miles. Alternator powered a 600 or so watt sound system pushed hard for years and I am pretty sure the first owner put a good amount of clutch wear on it. Either way, it has cost me about $350 in parts and my labor. Zero rust due to the plastic body panels... and you can guess what gets driven in the snow up here. The tC does ok in the snow, but the 2300 lb saturn does worlds better.
Some of the newer saturns were of less quality, but honestly the should have kept that brand and focused more on it.
I just drove a new 5.0 mustang the other day and was allowed to play with it a bit .... I have a new found respect for ford, they are going to end up climbing the ranks very quickly, especially with a $30,000 car that is outrunning M3's on the road courses.

Thread's old, but I'll play.
I'm not one to complain about a car because of it's looks. I've bought (Honda Element, Honda Fit, Scion tC) and nearly bought (Nissan Cube, Scion xB... twice) cars that are frequently derided as hideous by the chattering classes of the automotive blogosphere. I'll also not lambast them for achieving a mission (cargo capacity, towing duty, etc.) at the expense of other areas.
That said:

This thing... I had one as a rental for a month while staying in Georgia on business last year. What a horrid car in every way:
- Terrible ergonomics.
- uncomfortable seats
- junky controls
- jerky transmission (a 4 speed dinosaur... who the heck puts a 4 speed slushbox in a car these days? How about a carburator and a 3 on the tree!?!)
- Bizzaro options package - who builds a car with allow wheels, spoiler, moonroof, satellite radio, power windoorors (windows/doorlocks/mirrors) and manages to FORGET TO INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL!?!
To add to it: awful steering, sluggish responses, tires that squeal like tram brakes on the slightest suggestion of directional change... it was a truly awful automobile... it reminded me of the '89 Tempo we used in Driver's Ed.
