Charlton Hestons Obituary
Charlton Heston was born 0n October 4, 1924 and is best known for roles such as Moses, Taylor (Planet of the Apes), and Ben-Hur.
His birth name was John Charles Carter and he was born in Evanston, Illinois. His parents divorced when he was aged 10 and his mother married Chester Heston not long after. He started drama lessons at an early age and received a scholarship in drama to Northwestern University.

After leaving college in 1944 Charlton Heston joined the United States Army Air Corps and served two years as a B-25 radio operator/gunner. He also married Lydia Marie Clarke in 1944 and returned to New York in 1948 after being offered a supporting role in the Broadway version of Antony and Cleopatra.

He went on to play many leading roles in the early 50's with The Greatest Show on Earth being a major breakthrough. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1959 for his role of Ben-Hur. The 60's saw Charlton Heston playing a number of parts in science fiction and disaster movies, noticeably Planet of the Apes, The Omega Man, and Earthquake.

The early 70's saw Charlton Heston move in to directing, debuting with Antony and Cleopatra, and from then until the late 90's Charlton Heston has always remained popular with many tv shows, including The Colbys meaning he was very seldom not working.

RIP, man. The Ten Commandments was THE movie for me (one of the best old-hollwood movies ever). I can never get tired of watching it. You will surely be missed...

That guy was a great man. I never knew that he joined the army. My favorite quote from him was from Planet of the Apes: "Get your hands off me you dirty ape!". Rest in peace.
