Default CIC Credit Reports.....FRAUD!!!

Just to let everyone in the world know that Experian and Equifax, the places most people go to get your credit report, before you think about buying a new car for example.....ARE BIG SCAMS!!!! I chose to get a free credit report with Experian, it was FREE as they stated. So I did filled out all the neccasary forms to get the FREE credit report. I got the report within seconds, I have fair credit, which I guess is bad b/c of a past cell phone bill. Anyways, CIC Credit Report is now CHARGING me $12.00 a month every month. They can charge whatever they want up to a $1000 or more. So I want to warn everyone here a ScionLife.com to watch out, REALLY look at your bank statements every month. I just found out they have been charging me for the past 3 months and I didn't even know it. I'm taking action today against them. They're phone # doesn't work, they don't have a website, they have a address(fake). I recommend you tell your bank right away if you are a victim of this type of identity theft or else close your account and get a new one or change banks. JUST A WARNING THAT IDENTITY THEFT IS REAL to everyone here. Don't be a victim.

Did you go through freecreditreport.com?
They screwed me too. You can cancel, but you have to be persuasive, which bothers me, you should be able to say cancel and they'll say okay.

Don't take no for an answer. Good luck.

Go to the AG's office for the state where you live.
and go thru them and the consumer fraud division.

they can follow the $$(bank transfer records) back to this outfit & nail their hides to the wall.
btw .. this sounds like it may be one of those Nigerian outfits.... If so then the Fed's would like to know as well.

You really have no grounds to do anything. There was no fraud involved. You just didn't read the fine print, it happened to me too, but you can't blame them.

From the website: "When you order your free report here, you will begin your free trial membership in Triple AdvantageSM Credit Monitoring. If you don't cancel your membership within the 30-day trial period, you will be billed $12.95 for each month that you continue your membership."

So yea, it sucks, but there's nothing you can do but cancel your enrollment.

and if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. nothing is free. and never give your information to sketchy websites offering free anythings.

Same here. I cancelled within a month, so I wasn't charged.

www.annualcreditreport.com report is actually free, but per the website name, you can only use it once a year.

All you do is get your credit report.. then cancel a couple days after and say your wife didn't want you to have it or something like that. (That's what Chris did.)

i did get it resolved today after work. i called CIC today at work, i didn't have to fight that much, i just repeatedly said "NO!, I want to cancel!". The guy gave up after about 10 minutes, then he said he cancelled it. I don't believe him so I went and called my bank and blocked my card and got another one for $10. So, it is resolved for now, my bank is going to try and get my money back also that they took from me. Thank God for my awesome bank.

I was under the impression that you got caught in a "cloned/hijacked.re-directed" web page for the "free" credit check site

Are you able to view your credit score (FICO score) or just a credit report?

Read this on legit vs. scam sites:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/...reereports.htm

"The FTC works for the consumer to prevent fraudulent, deceptive and unfair business practices in the marketplace and to provide information to help consumers spot, stop, and avoid them. To file a complaint or to get free information on consumer issues, visit www.ftc.gov or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261. The FTC enters Internet, telemarketing, identity theft, and other fraud-related complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure, online database available to hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad."
