Default Concealed Weapons Permit

I currently live in SLC, UT and am contemplating getting a concealed weapons permit. I have been thinking about it for a long time, but with the recent incident at Trolley Square I am really leaning towards it. You never know what kind of crazies are out there... What do you guys think about it?

If you are going to do it--learn to shoot and learn to properly store the gun.............

x3

Owning a firearm is a HUGE responsibility. Carrying one even more so. I dont carry but I still hit the range monthly to keep the skills sharp and have been for about 10 years now. I would recommend the same to anyone.

I must respectfully disagree. Current events are not a valid reason to apply for a CCW permit.

why not....?

ive read sevearl incidents where gun permits have saved a situation.....namely the criminals dieing instead of the innocent...

now a gun in the wrong hands is more dangerous then anything...thats why gun education is important.....really really important

but go for it if you feel the need...iknow whne i turn 21(thats the minimum age for buying handguns and ammunition and a CWP here at least) i know i'll be getting one.....dont plan on using it, but better safe then sorry

That is why I said that.

Of course there are instances of guns saving lives, but there has been just as many cases of guns taking lives.

In my personal experience and generally speaking, one who starts to carry because of a specific incident that is really just random lacks to proper mindset for responsible CC.

I've had a Concealed Carry Permit for years but I never carry anymore. I'm a firm believer in your right to do it, but it is a huge pain in the butt. Even the smallest, lightest handgun is still pretty heavy to carry around all the time. It's not too bad in the winter time with long pants and coats, but in the summer time when I'm in shorts and T-shirts it's almost impossible. I will NOT carry a gun unless I am 100% positive of it's location AT ALL TIMES. The only way to be sure is to have it on your person (see above problem). I'm not naive enough to think that there could never be a reason for me to have a gun on me, but I also realize that the chances are much greater that it could get into the wrong hands by accident. I own many guns, but they are all locked up tight in a gun safe. Just my two cents.

WI doesnt have a CC law, so i couldnt carry even if i wanted to, which i dont. But i do recommend the Ruger P345 .45 cal pistol for anyone looking for a good gun. Mine works awesome.

ive seen concealed permits mainly left in the vehicle...expecially in "high-risk" areas...i livein a pretty rural area, little crime, but when i go"into the city" its a whole differnt world....

but then again ive been around guns all my life....i know a lot about them, ahve used them often, hunt and target shoot all the time....so im just plain used to having a gun basically

as for carrying on the person, i've seen a multiple of holsters, which were pretty cool...but still too big....it is hard to carry constantly, at least without scaring people

I remember seeing a gun holster advertised where you were supposed to carry the gun under your pants. I assume the gun was angled to be right over your own gun. Which strikes me as uncomfortable and hilariously dangerous. (hilarious to the people around you when you shoot yourself in the groin)

That reminds me;

Chuck Norris needs to have a Concealed Weapons Permit in all 50 states in order to legally wear pants.

Depending on your body type and gun of choice, a Glock 19 in a Fobus holster fits quite comfortably in the small of my back and is not noticeable unless I bend over at the waist while wearing an untucked button down shirt.

Me too! That's why I'm thinking about getting one... so I can shoot people legally. Seriously... I'm 24 years old, know the risks of guns, have been around guns all my life, and would only carry in my car (gotta protect the xB). Not only that, but I would take the necessary classes to refine my skills and go to the range often enough to maintain those skills.
