Okay, so with the first line of thought... if you fall away from being a Christian, you never were one.

What do they mean by "falling away"? If you begin to speed all the time on the freeway? If you start to gossip? What kind of sin is it does one fall into doing that takes away or deems you never had salvation? Temptation is there for everybody. A sin is a sin is a sin. If a Christian is tempted to go 10mph over the speed limit so that they're not late for church, they are knowingly breaking the law and that is a sin. If a Christian has a ___ thought, then they knowingly sinned. Tis all the same in the eye of the Lord and that speeder, that person with the ___ thought, all sinned and therefore weren't a Christian to begin with. They both sinned.

Gosh, so many things are sinful. It's so hard to believe that God finds them all to be the same. And I know that almost all Christians don't feel they are the same either. If they did, they'd really have to tone down on the anti-___ talk and all the anti-abortion talk. Because really, those things aren't any worse than the sin they're taking part of, whether it be masturbation, speeding, lust, using birth control, you name it.

But like all religious talk, my head is going numb and I fear I'm not even making sense. Plus, I have a husband who woke up, surely after a night full of sinful dreaming, who wants to kick me off the computer.
when i went to christian school, my teachers knew i was atheist(i didn't corrupt their kids, and they needed the money, so they let me stay). and they said the same thing.

Pretty some much christians think jesus/god is so awesome, and christianity is so powerful that anyone that is "truly" saved does not have the ability nor desire to fall from grace(you can still sin up a storm though, ubt you'll automatically ask for forgiveness at that point). As if once a christian, you are shown such a truth, and you come to such the realization that god is real, that there is no-way no-how you wouldn't continue to be one.

Of course the second ANY christian says they aren't one anymore, the other "real" christians say that guy was never one in the first place. it's pretty convienent.

Dave, so if all sins are the same then, then that 90 year old man, 2 seconds before he dies, could **********/speed/litter and then also be doomed to an eternity in hell.

To say that something like knowingly speeding or telling a little white lie wouldn't damn you to an eternity if you were to forget to repent or did not have time to do so before you die, is saying that not all sins are the same.

I've just always have had a problem with that "all sins are the same in the eyes of the Lord" statement. I mean, yeah, I think it's cool that God teaches that but it doesn't seem to apply very well when Christians poo-poo certain things.

I forgot who said it... probably Citizen (I'm on the computer without a mouse so I can't go back a page and look)), but I realize that it's not a sin for Christians to be anti-___ and all that. I do think it's awful that they pin point just a few of the, and I used this earlier I believe, googleplex of sins that are out there. It's sort of ungodly to constantly point out the sins of others like that when they, themselves are committing sins of the same magnitude.

I think God wants people to spread his love and his salvation... not judge and point out other people's sins.

A bit off-topic but I have gone from constantly trying to become saved to just constantly, and whole heartedly, praying that a truth be revealed to me, whether it be the what is taught in the Bible or otherwise. While I feel that praying about problems in my life and praying to be a better person has helped me, I can't say I've felt drawn or pointed to any specific religion or way. A whole life of me trying to find God, the Christian God in particular, and nothing. I believe there is some higher power out there but as far as it being the God in the Bible, I don't think so.

I take that back, I think my higher power is the God in the Bible but the Bible is certainly not a text book he approves of.

Blah...

It's extremely unchristian to point out the sins of others. After all Jesus was the one that said not to point out a splinter in your friends eye, beacause you probably have a log in your own.

WOW. There are so many questions and so many answers right and wrong in this thread it is allmost unbelievable. So if I may shed a little insight from my opinion. First of all Jena is it?
you said "A bit off-topic but I have gone from constantly trying to become saved"

one point everyone is missing here with the did God unsave you and all, Jenna Jesus saved you the moment he was killed without sin , all of us have been saved, Jesus allready did that. but whether or not we accept that and ask for forgivness and try to live a pure life is up to us, yeah EVERYONE is going to mess up up the Bible tells us that, but its what we do once we mess up that matters.

"to just constantly, and whole heartedly, praying that a truth be revealed to me, whether it be the what is taught in the Bible or otherwise." this is great, God will answer you,

Just be carefull when deciphering the differnce between what the bible says and what "christians" say a non biased survey showed that about 80% of americans said their religion was christianity, people dont understand what it means to be a "christian" the word christian means to be christ like, therefore really there arent alot of christians a lot of people trying to be chritians, and thats a good thing.

There are so many things on this thread i dont know what to answer, for the most part the problem here is with what people think christianity and the bible really is. Too many people just take certain verses out of the bible without using its context, any question can be answered the bibe is 100% right.

the most important thing is that if you live 100% out of love, true love not like love as we know it but "Agapē" from the greek this is love love God has for us. God does everything out of love, so from the original problem of this tread the guy i allready forgot his name, the one who died, he did not do everything out of love, he did not critisize ___ people out of love but out hate and bitterness, you can not take what he said and say chritians are like this because that is not christ like.

if anyone has any questions let me know and i can promise you i can answer it or i can find out for you. :D

I appreciate you taking the time to post.

I see what you're saying. But lets say someone who has been trying to lead a pure life continues to sin? What if they tried to not sin in any any way but then, years later, partake in regular sinning? Do they still go to heaven? Can they still be considered to be trying to be Christlike if they break the speeding laws? I would think that they could and that they still are saved and forgiven (maybe not forgiven for that specific thing but in general). But I think that many find if that sin is being ___ or doing ___ acts, is different, like it's a different and worse sin.

In addition... God is all powerful and all loving. Why was there need for Jesus to die on a cross? Why did he allow hell? It's all silly sounding that Jesus HAD to die for our sins. Why did God need to see someone be tortured to forgive? Why do we need a forgiving thing set up anyway? It's like God set all that up for his amusement and we've been subjected to (lol, I PM'd this a bit ago) a real life game of Survivor.

Amen. I, although not much of a believer, really dislike that many of the public figures out there, representing Christianity, are complete whack jobs. Trinity Broadcasting Network is jammed packed full of greedy whack jobs.

did you read the whole post? yes you have been saved, over 2000 years ago, but whether or not you accept that jesus did die for you and ask him to help you live a pure life is up to you, you have to make the decision, that decision is what determines whether you are going to heaven or hell and yes you can make that decision and then sin, then you need to repent (tell God your sorry and you want to and will try to change.)

and as far as your second question yes i did learn some of that in sunday school but also some from my parents some from my school of ministry some from the bible and some i have learned by revelations. i hope this answers your questions if you have anymore let me know

Dude, there are some times you seem like a pretty cool guy, and then other times you just lose me.
You seem to get off on conflict a little to much sometimes. Debate team in school?

lol no debate team in school, wish i could have, but i went to christian school, remember? Questioning and having different points of view there were not tolerated.

seriously in my christian school, our choices for electives were choir or band, and you must choose one. no art class of any kind even.

Totally agree with this.

You did NOT go spreading any sort of anti-God anything in Christian school. I, literally, had teachers lay their hands on me, trying to rid me of demons... twice. The first time, I forget why... oh, because I admitted to playing with a Ouija board and the second time because my friend and I thought it would be cute to read along with the tape of Revelations with our Bibles upside down (we were already punished). That second time though was by a very wacky teacher. She flipped out at all sorts of stuff.

Seriously, you'd get bothered, big time, if you weren't blending in.

Oh, and our electives were exactly the same. We did have Home-Ec when they bought the new-to-them school building (real close to you Dave, in Mountlake Terrace) that had kitchens!

you guys must have really fast internet. ok jenna If someone is trying to live a pure life and then falls back into sin and they do not repent then yes they are going to hell, they have to realize that they are sinning (which they probably allready know) then they have to be sorry they did and repent, Another key point is that Jesus was a man and lived on earth and was tempted he knows what it is like Jesus and God because they are the trinity plus the hs, they understand sin is hard to get out of. God will help you get out of sin and know what is sin he gave you a concience (sp?) you know when you are messing up, and as far as why did God have to send jesus to die, God set rules in the begining of time there is good and there is bad (evil) satain is evil if we do evil we are accepting we want satains ways so we die we go to him we want Gods ways we go to him, that part seems easy, before jesus died (the old testament) people had to make sacrifices to purify themselves, because adam sinned in the beginning he gave satain the "keys" just stay with me, when jesus died he died without sin and was killed overall by satain working through people satain broke the rules, jesus took the "keys" back and now we have access to God, i know it sounds complicated but it takes time to reallly understand how everything works, but you will learn that on your journey to know God. there is simply not enough space and time for me to explain everything, but what you do need to know is that God loves you agape love.

ahhh so many questions so fast, and im working right now okay if you dont care that he died for you then you probably arnt repenting for any sins you made therefor you are going to hell, God desires a relationship with us, if you are living a pure life allways asking God to save you then your relationship with God will begin to develope you will start learning things about Him, didnt mean to sound harsh back there but thats pretty much how it goes. ohh and somthing about church bs, you said where do you expect me to have learned stuff from the late show?

Do yer own homework, damnit, lol.

He's all knowing. Somewhere there's a scripture about him knowing you before you were born. And even if there's not, one can assume this because he is God and God knows everything. You cannot one-up God because God is God and God knows everything.

Sheesh.

ok, what about 2 old ___ guys that love each other for 50 years, goto church, worship jesus more than anyone else, do great things for the community, essentially, do no wrong with their life, and don't feel they're doing anything wrong or sinful.
Heaven or Hell?

Do you think jesus had sex? do you think he got drunk? Did he lust over some chicks gorgeous *****? Really, do you think he knows what it's like? Every other man isn't 100% sure god exists, but he was, wouldn't that skew his point of view?

did you make up that key analogy? pretty impressive if you did.
