I think they want word to get around. They could easily keep this low-key if they wanted to be real sneaky, but they intentionally got the media involved. I guess they want people to recognize these cars so they will take them seriously.

There was an unmarked SRT-10 Ram in the town I lived in in Arizona. Much better than some ____ty little 350Z .

This is totally bogus. Hopefully it'll only be a Carolina thing. I definitely wouldn't pull over for a Mustang or 350Z. Regardless is they have flashing red & blue or not. I can buy the same lights online or at the store. Think anyone is gonna pull over if my xB had these lights? Hell no.

Here's something for my Cali people:

Feb. 23, 2008

California speeders beware, CHiPs getting new unmarked Chargers

"Drivers in California will need to start keeping their eyes peeled for a new profile as they cruise the freeways. The traditional Crown Vics have apparently been joined by a fleet of 88 new unmarked Dodge Chargers. The new cop cars were spotted at the Sacramento vehicle preparation facility that the California Highway Patrol uses to outfit new cars. Unlike the model that we recently drove, these are unlikely to draw much attention from onlookers before they pounce."

I'm not worried. As long as you're a safe, responsible driver, you should be fine. Still, I'm not taking any chances. I'm keeping my car low-key.

The solution to this is simple: AVOID ALL DODGE CHARGERS.

A lot of cop cars in my area are chargers and black unmarked suburbans.

This isn't really that new. In Germany, they have used nearly any suitable car in an unmarked police role on the Autobahn. So it was only a matter of time that practice started here.

Also, the state patrol here has Chargers now too, in various states of marking. The biggest problem with them is that the guy driving one where I live goes around 80 to 90 in a 55, with no noticeable emergency taking place (as he had no warning lights flashing). Im sure when a real emergency occurs, it will end up wrapped around one of the many trees around here (not something I want to see), due to "get-there-itis". I hope that does not happen, but it has before around here.

yeah ive seen quite a few chargers drivin around the city. I have no real problem with them using the cars but like other people i think i would be a little hesitant to pull over because of just flashing blue lights but i dont think id risk it. i would pull right over just to make sure. Also im cool with them using the cars as long as theyre not the ones starting the race. Like as long as theyre not the ones revving first or flashing their high beams because thats just messed up

Hmm well if the unmarked cop revved at me first I would just do what I always do, which is look the other way or giggle and ignore it..... but as far as being pulled over by one.... yeahhh don't think I'd be pullin' over if its unmarked...but then at the same time i'd be scared to get in more trouble if I didn't pull over right away.....

Some of them should be called pigs . I usually just refer to them as the 5-0.

WA State Patrol are pretty hard up here, they don't let you get away with anything. Something about so many fatalities on the highways. They have green and black Chargers, white Suburbans, lots of unmarked Crown Vics and Impalas. It's kind of rural out here, but they try to get as much money as they can during tourist season. You know those Europeans...
