Default First speeding ticket. DOH

Still thinking about Monday when I got my first speeding ticket. Officer was getting ready to pull out of a Walgreens parking lot, turning the opposite way of where I was coming.

Two people in front of me, one on the right almost by my side and one in my lane 20 feet ahead. I waited till there was room to pass (they were doing about 30, they seen the unmarked Charger, silver) and passed them. Then continued on to pass the cop, still on the gas, at about 55.

He pulled me over and said I was doing 73 when I passed him. 40 zone. I was too nervous to ask if he radar'd me or not but he wrote me a citation for Excessive Speed and my court date is next month.

I know the normal speed on the road is about 50, and I was passing, not racing, not hot rodding, etc. But that won't help me in court.

I already called the officer, left a voicemail saying I was VERY nervous and it was my first ticket. He called me back within about 15 mins at 830pm Tuesday and told me "lets just say don't lose sleep over it, theres much worse people out there." So i'm kind of optimistic.

Just though i'd share this with everyone. Some times you just have a bad day. Yes i've sped before, but NEVER that bad. 33 over the limit is terrible. All week thus far i've been doing exactly the speed limit and completely burning out my cruise control.

I got stopped yesterday for doing 47 in a 35, I seriously cant drive that slow. I tried going the speedlimit at 35 on the road today and all I see is people passing me by doing over 40, Am like way me?? but like you said sometimes you have a bad day. I would recommed taking defensive driving so it wont show up on your driving record and it might save you on the insurance :D

Trust me, I am going to do everything short of groveling to make sure my insurance doesn't go up. I JUST barely got out of he days of me paying $300/month for insurance.

I'm down to like $120 now.

1 fight it. ask for the radar gun, AND proof that it was tuned, and tuned CORRECTLY that day.

take it to court! he might just not show!

dont ask for the price to go away, just the points.

ask if he could have made an error, and tagged one of the cars around you. if theres doubt, you're left out!
