Default GOOD AND BAD NEWS!!! TOP GEAR IS COMING TO AMERICA!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31ZE7Wkl1Hg

so top gear will begin airing in america, it has been showing on bbc america, but now NBC is going to be airing its own american only show, but it will be called "Gear" instead of "top gear", and will feature american hosts and an american STIG...

so i'm happy that top gear will be coming to america, but i'm worried that without james, jeremy and richard, it won't be as successful. i hope it doesn't tarnish the name of top gear...which is probably why they are calling it just "Gear"

No one can top Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. No one.

I agree. I want to see the real show, not some rip off American version.

Jay Leno I can understand, Adam Corolla is just some random douche they found, and Seinfield? Wtf? Could they make it any more obvious on how desperate they are for this?

hey, we know that jay leno is a great car guy, he has like over 2000 cars. jerry seinfeld is a funny guy, and you guys might not know this about him, but he is actually a big porsche afficionado.

the problem is that you can just produce chemistry like they have on the bbc version of top gear. they are just so fun to watch and listen to. but we shall have to see.

I am not a big fan of Adam Corolla, Jay Leno would be great for the show, but I am afraid that Jerry Seinfeld may be a little biased. Who knows...it might be do better than people think it will. I mean our version of "The Office" is 10 times better than the BBC version.

Adam Carolla is a big datsun fan. I know he got a 510 track car. He also has some other nice cars too. I don't think Carolla, Leno, and Seinfeld is a good mesh though. I'll definitely check it out. When is it suppose to air?

Yea, I wanna know when this is supposed to air. The BBC one is so effing good, so even if this is half as good, it'd be worth watching.

Actually, he's a big car guy who is also really into imports.

I'll be interested to see the show. You can't top the chemestry of the original hosts, but they have to americanize it a little.

I think "Gear" is a stupid name though. Top Gear sounds much better and makes more sense.

actually, jeremy clarkson and richard hammond have been hosts since series 1 of top gear, but james may arrived for the second season.

there was a third host the first season, i think his name was jason or something, but he was fat and boring, and just went on and on about used car deals.

I have a lot more respect for Jay Leno now. They should just start showing Top Gear on NBC or something...the show just can't be topped.

That is a GREAT article.

"I said on The Tonight Show recently that the new Kia was available with a heated rear window, so if people needed to push it in winter they could keep their hands warm. Boy, the phones did not stop ringing."

Top Gear has been around since the 70's. Jeremy Clarkson joined the Top Gear team in the 80's. I can remember watching Top Gear years before Richard Hammond and James May started hosting it. It was a lot more serious back then. Jeremy was always the comedian, but the other hosts at that time were too up-tight. The current Top Gear format is the most enjoyable.
