Default got lucky at wal-mart

so earlier this evening i went to wal-mart with the intentions to buy a jig saw. found a cheap black and decker for $18.88 so i pick that up along with a set of blades that were $1.28. i always park by the garden section since its easy to find parking and there is a lesser chance of someone dinging my car. so im getting ready to pay and the lady only scans the blades but she puts both items in the bag. i happily swipe my card. and i also say to her "sure ill take both of these for $1.63 (dont remember the total but it was somthing like that) when im entering my pin n what not, the door attendant comes to the register, (there about 10 feet away from each other) and asks what is going on since the lady who rang it up seemed a little puzzled. they exchanged some words in their language. and now i have the bag in my hand and getting ready to walk out. then the door attendant asks the register lady how much was the total and then she says $1.00 and then the other lady says ONE DOLLAR!!! and then i say well i dont have time for your mistakes, it came up as it and im taking it for a dollar. and then the lady behind me in line says "yea he [me] is right, he should get that price" and she also asks if there were any more of them. i tell her ya and walk out, get in my car and bounce. now do u guys think that i can get in trouble for this? i mean ____ if they come after me for 20 bucks ill pay it. and i know that this is a public forum yada yada yada but i want some feedback on what i should do. thanks

Take the saw and run!

They could just charge your card for it.

Yea, I would have said something. I'm certainly not perfect but I could never do that... Personally.
What's done is done though so I wouldn't worry about it.

Maybe at a mom and pop shop..but most stores have what they call overhead or in Best Buy terms, "shrink." They have money set aside to compensate for stolen, misplaced, broken goods. The less money they have to spend on those goods, the more money their employees get at the end of the year (bonus!).

Wal-mart employees don't get paid enough to care for the crappy company they work for.

You stole a $20 drill off of the mistake of a $6/hour employee from the largest company on the face of the planet. However you feel about that, it is what it is. Keep in mind, I'm not judging you, but don't sugar coat it.

well, you probably got over on them. and apparently your integrity costs $18 bucks. wal*mart can certainly afford to lose 18 bucks. but this isn't about wal*mart.

this is a personal opinion and in no way is an indication of the position of "scionlife" or its any of its sponsors.

oh, i guess i read it wrong, i thought she scanned the saw for 1.00...
my wife actually went out of here way to return a book a employee forgot to ring up, forgetting to ring up is different then when something rings up wrong. I recant my previous statement.
anyways yes, you in fact stole the saw becuase you knowingly took it out of the store without paying...... even if its not by your own doing it is theft on a different level.

Used to work for Wal-Mart, stuff like this happened day in, day out. They will not miss the saw one bit, someone will write up a 'Missing' slip and no one will think about it ever again. Don't worry about it.

*This post is biased to the fact that I was bogusly fired in a false Sexual Harassment case because a female wanted the position I was going for and she was sleeping with one of the managers who told her I was getting the job because I was better qualified, and then she turned around and said I had Sexually Harassed her and got thrown out the door by said manager.

If you feel good about what you did then that speaks volumes for your integrity. Can you not afford $18 for a saw?

You folks have to be kidding... I can't believe how hard you guys are trying to make 05FMtC feel bad. After working at Best Buy for a summer, I know for sure it was not a big deal for Wal-Mart. These companies have a budget for situations like this. He didn't blatantly and deviously steal the drill. The cashier messed up and 05FMtC benefitted from it. That's it!

I don't know how many times a restaurant messed up my order and comp'd it. Starbucks has fubared my order many times ("um...I ordered soy milk") and gave me the other coffee for free (for someone else).

I'm not disgracefully judging, but this sounds more like my opinion...

Techniquely, he knowingly walked out with an item he didnt pay for, which is called petty larceny. The employess failed to do their job in preventing theft. You managed to get away with a $20 jigsaw, good job weasel.

btw, from what i've heard there is an inverse ratio with starbucks patrons....the more involved the starbuck's order, the more of an eh*whole the orderer. i.e., someone who orders a " vente double shot vanilla latte with 2% soy milk and light whip" is more of a tool than say someone who orders a "grande drip with room". am i right? just a guess.

i honestly did not realize what had happned until i walked out of the doors and looked at the reciept. it said total items sold 1. i really did not want to go back in and tell them "hey you forgot to ring this thing up" and hold up the rest of the 20 or so ppl in line at the time. i know that i did somthing bad but hey i posted up here to see what you all had to say. so no harm taken. seriously i know that somthing like going to jail over a measly 20 buck saw that i will only probley use on one or two projects is not worth it but i have taken my risk and we will see what happens. plus gas is expensive as crap here i need all the little money i can get. going to school and trying to mod a car is expensive.

"vente double shot vanilla latte with 2 % soy milk and no whip"

That is a vanilla latte (vanilla syrup) with two shots of espresso (normal amount of shots in a Venti). Most people don't want whipped cream when they request soy milk because whipped cream is...dairy. You could just say "I'll have a venti vanilla latte with soy." lol

I just realized I'm somewhat of a starbucks *****
