Default Guitar Players Speak Up!

Lright, so my dad got me a guitar over the holidays, and so now here i am trying to teach myself guitar. I'm learning chords and stuff from the internet machine, but i need some suggestions for some easy songs to learn.

If you've got any awesome sounding songs that are easy to play and will either impress the ladies or let me rock hard on my acoustic, lemme know!

btw its a washburn d10sz for anyone interested...

there are alot of good acoustic songs out there. i mostly play old slow jams. Girls love slow jams old songs that are still hits. I'll know i hit pro once i master Passion's songs.

if you are serious about this, i recommend getting lessons somewhere.. you can try Insturmental music in Thousand Oaks.. off of T.O. blvd. thats less then 10 minutes from where you live.. (i know your area pretty well),, and one of my friends teaches bass guitar there..

i play guitar, but i dont consider myself good.. always had other obligations in life that slowed practice time.. and it just became a hobby of mine.. (and i own 3 guitars )

guitars i got

Yamaha Acoustic
Ibanez GRX40
Jackson Kelley/with EMG Passive pick-ups (my baby ;) )

yeah i'm from agoura but i'm currentyly in school up in northern cali, but i did shop for my guitar at instrumental music...

I'm currently attempting some beatles songs, Journeyman (Iron Maiden, a little tough...), and some easy Jethro Tull.

My problem is that i have such a short attention span, i can never learn a whole song haha.

dude im totally the same way.. i cant remember ____.. but after a while i practice the song, and just remember the song as i play it..(dont ask me to just start in the middle).. a friend of mine will give me some lessons.. but my goal isnt guitar right now.. its my car..

you say your at school.. there has got to be tons of musicians around there.. just find something.. around there.. or even a class.. i took a guitar class at Moorpark college a few years ago.. that improved playing alot..

tears in heaven is a fairly easy song and it gets your wrist fast enough to move ard stuff. also check out ultimate-guitar.com for some chords and what not for hella songs. just play a few songs to get your hands used to it and get familiar where chords are. then learn the awesome bar technique.. hahaha. good luck!

all good, your wrists will eventually get used to it.. keep on going! lol. when i first started playing guitar, the guitar i had seriously had like a 3" wide neck and i have small hands... yah that hurt like a bee.. but after i got good at it, i switched to my new acoustic and man is it sweet. lol

Ive been in numerous bands over the years, so I know a little about guitar theroy. What this guy said is 100% true...you really dont want to develop bad playing habits when you are first learning because it will eventually require a lot of effort to correct....best to learn right the first time.

http://www.guitaretab.com/

That site as many songs written in tab form and is a fair place to start.

But dont forget the lessons. Or you can take a classical guitar couse at your local community college.
