Default "Hating" on SL aka Random Rant

you know, scionlife is one of the nicest forums around. i don't know why people complain they get hated on all day around here. it seems to me that if you put your opinion, thoughts, pics, whatever out there for the world to see, you should expect people to share their thoughts as well. it doesn't mean you have to be a d&ck, but i'm sick and tired of negative/constructive criticism being taken as disrespect or whatever.

is it really that bad if someone doesn't like a mod you've done to your car or say they would have done it another way? people need to chill out a bit and stop taking this so serious.

It's even OK to disagree with someone, just don't come at it with a whole lot of attitude. The atitude some folks have more than enough of is the biggest problem here. There's no need for it.

There is a difference between "discuss" "argue" and "badmouth" that some folks just don't get.

Of course having around 20,000 "young male" people all on one site is bound to get things into a bit of tension.

Most are great guys, some need a little nudging to get back in line, some just won't or can't learn. We nudge 'em a couple times when they step out of line, and if they still don't get the idea we send 'em back home to mama.

Other smaller sites, such as the xA site Hornet refers to, tend to be a lot milder, and don't have the 'in-your-face' confrontations that crop up on large sites like this one with a lot of aggressive people. (Almost ALL the problems here are from less than 2% of the people - it just SEEMS like there are more...)

Not a whole lot that can be done to make it better, but we do try. 2% of this large a number is a lot.

Arguing on the net is dumb.

"Hating" on the net is plain retarded. It makes you that much less respectable as a person. Theres also a point where joking turns to "hating".

Personally I look for constructive critisism when modding my cars/trucks. There may be 20 ways to improve airflow, but only 6 may be actually productive. Who knows you may hit a spot where yo say "I did this!" and someone else says "I dunno, you should have done this." Then you think, "What if I did this and that?" And you hit up on something better? Opinions are like eyes, everyones got em, some just dont use em the way they should.

There are forums that allow trash talking, and there are forums that dont. SL so far is the broadest car forum thats family/work safe that Ive come across. I actually enjoy this site.
