Default Help with cell phone

OK so I just bought a sony ericsson w700i like 3 weeks about and a few days ago it fell in a pool. So I took it apart and let it dry for about 2 days, now almost everything is working, the music the camera and the phone book the radio everything but the phone won't connect to my service provider it says "no network" . Does anyone have an idea to what I can do to fix it?

If there are no signs of "water damage", I'd say return it for another phone.
That's what I would do...

I was thinking it has to do with the antenna, b/c I took the sim card out and put it in my old cell phone and it works fine.

It could be the SIM contacts inside the phone, do they look okay?

that sucks, but at least it works as well as it does! I dropped an old phone of mine into a pool and it never showed any sign of life after that. sounds like your only option is to take it to a store and find out how much they want to fix it.

if you had insurance on the phone or the previous phone... go claim a w600i... closest they can do.. and it'll cost you $50..

other than that... there's not much you can really do.

this really sucks! it's like everything works but it just won't connect to my service provider. maybe there is something that needs to be activated on the phone or something, but I have no knowledge about phones. I'll just look around for someone who knows how to do this!

Have you tried putting someone else's SIM card into the phone? I find it hard to beleive that the antenna was affecting by the dip into the water, or that it rusted out so quickly. However, as with any electrical device, mix water with it and anything can happen.

Yeah I tried a different SIM card and it still won't connect.

That's what I'm also saying, if everything is working fine, then there must be a fix for this. I also dropped my last phone in the lake ( a nokia) and I just left it to dry over night and then it was fine.

I would try to go into EVERY single menu option, specifically looking for network settings and provider info. Perhaps it defaulted back to a non-US standard.

I tried a master reset and still nothing. On my menu under "Mobile networks" I have:
1. New Search
2.Select Network
3. Search Mode
4, Preferred Network

But the search always end up not finding the service provider. There is also a whole mess of other stuff under the menu under "connectivity" anyone who has a sony ericsson can agree with me, they are a bit complicated. But I'm still trying to make it work!

Thanks for the replies from everyone also!
