Default Help me advise my father on his car

He sold his car yesterday got bout 50k out of it. When I was in Italy he brought me to a dealership of Beamers and Minis. Basically he's asking me to pick a car - well advice him since I'm the only one out of the three daughters who is into cars lets say - for him out of:

- the new BMW 335diesel coupe
- the new Mini Cooper (I'd say the john works one but he'd look a bit ridiculous in a modded out mini but on the other hand I'd get to drive it when I visit)
- the new Audi TT

Obviously the bmw is the most powerful one, the mini the "funnest" and the TT I dunno...good looking? He'd keep either one of these for 2-3 yrs then buy his definitive car.

BMW(this is the hamann version but basically the same as the one we saw minus the spoiler and minor stuff)

MINI(John Cooper Works Mini then the normal cooper S)

AUDI

Jup jup biturbo it was then....
of course the "sales man" was young and dressed in Armani
shocked to see when I figured out where to open the hood and I stared at the engine bay and looked to find if the axle is exactly at the center of the engine (which is hawt)

Do you ppl know that they wouldn't let my father test drive the toyota yaris? And when they allowed him they gave him only 10 mins and he had to make an appointment with the bmw 2 months before

Yup dealerships in Italy CHOOSE you. Not you them.

LOL
i know.....i was just talking about Status Symbol of the BMW
.....the turbo diesel is a hot car and not just your regular run of the mill Bimmer!!! Agreed

The TT is (in strickly my opinion) a younger stlyish car..... it all depends on what he is looking for but i think the BMW is still the best choice!!!

to help decide.... we really need to know more about what he's using the car for. if it's for sheer exhilaration while driving...bmw. if it's just to commute....mini. i would say keep the audi out of it. audi owners don't mix well with bmw owners, and vise-versa. not always true, but as a rule of thumb... if he walked you up to a beamer dealership, i would say choose the beamer or mini.

Well he just sold his 911 so no it's not for sheer exhiliration lol. He gave up his porsche cos he has to commute now and that wouldn't do it. He will receive a hard blow by downgrading but I guess he'd feel less of the 'pain' by buyin the bmw.

Naw only these 3 choices.
As I said dealerships are a$$holes in Italy.
He'd have to get in contact with the owners of the toyota/lexus and Nisan/infinity dealerships in order to test drive which they will let him do so in who knows how many weeks and he needs a car soon.

I voted for the Mini. If your Father enjoys driving at all, He'll love the Mini. And if He opts for a special version, I'd suggest the Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works GP Kit (what a mouthful*phew*). In addition to the extra power the GP makes over the John Cooper Works (215 HP and 207 HP, respectively), you get a retuned chassis, with specific spring, shock, and anti-roll-bar calibrations. It's also 62lbs. lighter. So it goes like snot and with a skidpad number of 0.90 G, it sticks like a booger.
0-60 in 5.9 secs
Standing 1/4 - 14.5 secs @ 98 MPH

Just for commuting? Bah!

I would personally run with the BMW. the only downside is maintenance is a biiiaaaootch. Had a 02 330ci loved it until the warranty blew. If he doesnt mind paying high maintenance, go with the Bavarian Motor Work. I loved that ride. sold it for the Scion. lol. for aftermarket crap hit up www.bavarianautosport.com. lots of cool stuff. forget the mini and audi. driven both. mini feels like driving a turbo civic, but solid handeling, and the audi, eh. rather drive a Daewoo Lanos.

I feel my dad is 30 yrs old if he does those things hehe
I'm sure maintenance on a beamer is less than on a porsche 911 so he will be fine under that aspect the rims ill push him to it :D
