Hip-Hop music question....
I've always liked the East Coast's "style" and production *cough PRIMO cough*. I can't quite put my finger on what it is though. A good example I think is Wu-Tang Clan. I don't think any other group on the West Coast has their style. Does anyone else agree with me?

Wu Tang is definitely a talented group...not one of my favorites(which is kind of bad being Im from NY lol), but the GZA really is a genius, gotta love Method Man
Inspectah Deck I think is one of the more if not the most talented artst in Wu Tang. I never really followed GZA. Speaking of Inpectah and Gang Starr, one of my all time favorite songs is Above The Clouds. I'm pretty sure you would agree w/ me, Simplyscion. That production completely blew me away.
OMG, I love the Roots. I have all of they albums (I know they are on CD's). I think they embody what hip hop is. Its all real and all original music with a little of the older classic stuff sprinkled in. Not like main stream Rappers that produce what I call Hip Pop i.e. Rip Daddy oh, I'm sorry Puff Daddy.

anything by kwest the madd ladd, demigodz (apathy, louis logic, celph titled, rize and others who i can't remember right now), kaze, rjd2's black album remix is dope, all justus league/9th wonder/little brother stuff because it's chill when you drive, and cunnynlinguists southern underground album. all dope lyrically but they have hot beats too so you don't pass out from boredom. i'll think of some more later. i'm a scrubby back packer with way too much obscure hip hop.
oh yeah, and all of slum village's older stuff. fantastic vol. 1 is godly.

Have you listened to MIA yet? she is featured on the last missy cd and i think she is better than anything out there right now. i have seen her three times. anyone i have played her stuff for has liked it.

a classic track among classic tracks indeed! I must have played that damn song 100 times and memorized all the lyrics when it came out.
another dope one was "Return of the Crooklyn Dodgers" with Chubb Rock, O.C. and Jeru the Damaga. Again, with Primo in the production.
Someone said Diamond D. his first album had some sick beats, lyrics were just ok though. You know who else had dope beats was Portishead. Crazy musical stuff going on there, even though they arent technically Hip Hop.
You know who else was dope back in the day was Keith Murray and Redman too.
On the West Coast, I dont think anyone named Rass Kas. That fool got lyrics too.
Not really a lyrical album, but one of the hardest most energetic albums when it dropped was M.O.P. "Warriorz".

Keep an eye out for an east coast underground group named TNK...Its a couple of friends of mine from high school...my boy James from TNK works at Fatbeats in NYC so all of his connections has helped them a lot through the past couple of years.
