i'm designing a marketing campaign for hybrid center, a non-profit whose mission is to inform the public of the benefits of buying hybrid vehicles and the different options available. since there are several hybrid models from various makes with more and more slated for release, hybrid center's target audience is very large and diverse. i posted this thread to ask for your help with ideas for promotional items, since the membership here is about as diverse as it gets. thank you all in advance for your contributions.
Again, i need suggestions for promotional items to give away. what kinds of items would you actually appreciate/use?

 

the usual, hats, shirts, key chains, lanyards.

maybe toy model hybrid cars?

 

do keychains. once someone has your keychain on their keys, it rarely comes off, and that's exposure to that person daily.

don't do hats. reason being, if you do ballcaps, you're 99% of the time going to pick to do "unisex" aka "actually women's" ballcaps. you know the ones where the front of the hat hugs the head and doesn't have reinforcement to stand up.

the ball caps that men and baseball players wear have that plastic reinforcement and women don't like to wear them.

i've worked for many companies and they all get those "unisex" hats made. the only guys wearing them are clueless 40+ year olds and the managers who are trying to get their other employees to wear them.

 

thanks, guys! i was trying to stay away from the standard stuff and go with more conceptual items, but i can't argue with demand. i guess i just have to work harder to conceptualize the shirts, hats, keychains, etc. i'll get started on some ideas, and perhaps post them here. we'll see. anyway, thanks again for the input, guys. it's good to have some confirmation. thanks again!

 

ok, i'm on track now. i decided to do t-shirts, stickers and keychains. my concept is synergy, since the electric motor and gasoline engine in hybrid cars form a synergistic relationship. i'm doing guy and girl versions of each. the girl version will have a daisy and a bee, the guy version will have molecular orbital diagrams of iron and carbon and a pruis in high contrast with a cool halftoned effect. once i get all my elements in the designs i'll post them up here to get some opinions. this all came to me while i was trying sleep at about 12:30 this morning, so i was up until 2 sketching out my ideas. thanks again for your help, drax & dave. i'm excited to see where this goes!!!
