Default I am an American

I was sworn in as an American citizen today, along with 3,561 other people (all together in the same room) at the Pomona Fairplex in L.A. County. Yay for me.

Thanks. I'm not going to register to vote. Don't care much for politics.

I was, and still am, a UK citizen. It's always nice to have a couple of passports and a couple of places to call home. I can always head back to the UK if I ever need free healthcare, if there is a mandatory draft here in the US, or if the American economy goes down the shítter.

Yeah man, it took 7 years, thousands of dollars, a couple of physical exams, a bunch of vaccinations, a couple of fingerprinting sessions, and several interviews and meetings to get to this point. Thank god that's over.

Congrats!
Sucks to go through all that trouble though.
I made sure my parents went through all of that before I turned 18...all I had to do was show up and raise my right hand,

My best friend from Durham, UK asked me to write a letter on his behalf when he went through this.
That was almost 20 years ago, and he's back in Durham for a few years.

Congrat's again - that's a lot of work, but to be a REAL American, it's worth the effort.

Congrat's. My mother just got hers last month.
but...come on. Don't run away when it suits you. We speak of the pride of the English, but remember where you are.

this is a legal question...

if you're a citizen on a country does that mean that you have to surrender citizenship on the previous country or can you run dual or multiple citizenships

Depends on the country.
Some allow dual-citizenship.
I think the UK does...
