yeah my wife had a catalog of gifts to choose from. I mean I know I will probably see "be glad you have a job" and stuff like that. But really a postcard? really I didn't need to be reminded unless they are going to actually give me something. The post card is like, hey you have been here for ten years and what are you worth to us?...a postcard . A lunch or something would have been nice.

you beat me to it archangel, lucky to have a job, tough out there - take it from one who is looking. oh, love the quote in your sig too.

But yeah, a postcard that sucks. What did they do mail it to your house or hand deliver it to your desk? Some employers just don't get how important it is to appreciate/show recognition to their people - especially tenured ones.

I didn't get anything for my 10 year... some coworkers bought me a few beers after work, but that's it.

well, i guess it is time to burn the building down bro.

but seriously, if you hadn't noticed...there is a bit of a global recession going on. what did you expect? what kind of company do you work at? how many people stay there for 10 years? do they have a fair amount of turnover or are there lots of people there their whole lives?

No house burning here, I work for a multi billion dollar company that is bucking the trend of the recession, things are flat but are not in the red. I don't know how many people is employed as a whole but I can guess not many get to the 10 year point, there is a lot of turn over at the lower levels. The company makes money millions from me doing my job correctly yet they can't pop for lunch? Puh lease. I would have rather not had the postcard. Its just asinine to me.
