i need some advice from other people who love PCs and TCs
I'd sell the XPS. you could build something yourself that's way better for half the price. I used to build computers until I kinda stopped playing computer games. No point in building a beast computer for Firefox.
I doubt you'll get much for the XPS. I wouldn't pay more then 800 for that set up... new.

leave it up to chance. put both up on ebay/ craigslist and see which one gets sold first. the decision will be made for you.
if you dont meet your goal you can always make a frankenstien ZPI kit like me.

Alright, I'll go easy on you with this one. You've been told by multiple people, that you're not getting $3500 for your XPS. Now, I know the stuff I named isn't what was used in your Dell, because the stuff I named, is actually better. I basically built an equivalent to the XPS 730, the newer top XPS model. The thing you're not understanding, is that Dell is a ripoff compared to building your own PC.
Now the $10,000 PC comment. Sure, a lot of people spend that much modding cars, but you're comparing apples to oranges here. Blowing $10,000 on a Dell computer, isn't like modding cars, it's like spending $80,000 on a new Scion xB. I've been building custom PCs for about 6-7 years, so I'm not misinformed. You're the one who is misinformed by the mainstream numbers. Just by the way you described it, I know that is a fact. Just based off what you said for the HDDs proves you don't know wtf is going on. Size isn't the main factor for HDDs anymore, it's all about disc speed. You have two generic 500GB 7,200RPM Seagate HDDs. They go for $80 each, brand new. And they suck. Want proof? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148136
Also, buying a Dell isn't a hobby, building your own PC is.
This is directly off Dell's website, which is an upgrade offered as a second HDD.
500GB - Seagate 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache [add $200 or $6/month1]
ok im happy you think you know what your talking about, but how would know if any of what you listed is better then anything in my XPS because you have no idea what is in my XPS. and even if i couldn't sell it for 3.5 i could get rid of it for a lot more then 900, and i didn't say my XPS was my hobby i said people who built pcs for 10 grand did it as a hobby, and that is their hobby and it isnt any different then putting money in to their car, sorry you think you know everything life must be real easy when you know everything.....

Look around, you've got multiple people telling you the same thing I am. I can go to Dell.com, build the new XPS 730 to the max specs, and come out to a price tag of over $10,000. Then I can go to newegg.com, and build a PC that will outperform that Dell for $2,000.
Now tell me one thing, how much do you think your two 17" monitors are worth? I'd love to hear this one.

alright my friendly SL peer i have two of these
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...530&lid=627063
i would say 200 used
even if its a cheaper brand your looking at 150 each so 200 for two very new monitors is a fair price.
but i have 2 20' CRT monitors you can take of my hands for $300..

$200 each or $200 both. Because $200 each is ridiculous. You can get 19" Samsung monitors with a faster response time for $210 new.
I'm just trying to get you to realize that your stuff isn't worth as much as you think it is.

agreed, but its all about what the person knows and what name they want, a few years ago i sold a pc with some light up fans and a cool case for way my then i should have cause the kid just offered me money for it, you'd be disgusted what people will spend on something for the name. like i said the only reason i have the dell is because i get a great deal on them. but their is some good crap in it, two core duo processors at 3GHz Dual nVidia GeForce 9800GX2 1024MB graphics card, and two 500 gb hard drives that run 10k RPM. its not a bad pc im sure i could make a sale on it.
