Default I need ticketttt help.....

Ok so saturday was my birthday and I went to atlantic city with a couple of friends. 2 of them live in maple shade nj, I think thats rt 73? right there. So I drop them off at home and I start heading for the betsy ross bridge. Before I get into the part about being pulled over let me just say, I had borrowed my mom's company car for this trip so I made 100% sure I was not ever going anymore than 10mph over at most.

Ok so Im heading towards the bridge doing about 60 mph, and I start heading uphill to cross the bridge, when at the same time I see the sign that the bridge starts and its a 45mph zone, and I see the reflective crap on the back of the state troopers car. So i slow down and start doing dead on 45. The cop pulls me over after 1-2 minutes of riding my ___, and tells me he clocked me from behind him(as I was driving up to him) doing 75 in a 45. Exactly 30 mph over the speed limit. I didnt feel like getting arrested so I was nice and polite and when he came back with my ticket I asked for a print out since he said "I clocked you doing 75 in a 45" He told me I couldnt have one.

Ok first I know I should of known it was a bridge slow down, it was 3am and I was a little on the tired side. Second I do not in anyway agree I was doing exactly 75mph which puts me exactly 30mph over. So I need some help.....

1) Do I even stand a chance in court/is it even worth it to go?

2)Its 5 points for being 30 over, should I get a lawyer and try to get out of some of the points?

3)I have a PA license and it was in Jersey, does that make a difference with points and my insurance going through the roof?

4)Why couldnt he give me a printout, or am I wrong and they can't actually do that?

5) The time on the ticket says 2:08 and it was actually 2:50 when he pulled me over, mean anything? lol

any other comments/help would be appreciatted.

Thanks guy

yeah if you ask to see a printout they have to show you, you have the right to see what speed he clocked you at, but i bet in court he is gonna deny that you ever asked, what a dick...

I just spoke with a nj cop and he said they do not have to show you, if requested. Dont quote me on that but that is what he said. Im not sure how pa is but for example mississippi does not have a point system therefore if you got a ticket there it wont translate to points in nj.

^I thought it was federal law that they have to show you? I could be mistaken, but i know for sure in illinois they show you or the ticket gets dropped(unless the cop lies, like he did for me!!!)

Get an attorney and contest the ticket. Hopefully, the officer will not show up in court and the case will be dropped. If he does show, an attorney will more than likely negotiate the ticket out of the "30 over" range which opens up many more options and significantly reduces the fine and its impact on your driving record.
You may even end up with Deferred Adjudication or even a dismissed ticket.
Sorry to hear about the horrible B-Day present. That really sucks!

Yes, they can.
This is where an attorney will have a field day, though. There are strict guidelines for equipment testing and calibration that MUST be shown if requested by the court. If they do not meet the standards... bye-bye ticket!

This is true but be careful because police depts also keep strict records on their calibrations and when they are serviced.

I also have proof (thank youuuuu EZ pass) that I had gone through the toll at 2:46 am, and was pulled over after that. On my ticket it says it was 2:08. Not sure if that even means squat lol

It does. He is probably going to use a radar print-out from 2:08 am. The time he probably gunned someone else doing 75 mph. Bring your EZ-Pass print out to court with you. That cop should get suspended without pay for pulling ____ like that.

Actually, I don't think your EZ Pass printout from 2:46 will be of any use. Just because you have a printout showing where you were at 2:46, that does not mean you were not in the same area at 2:08. If you want to play the time card, then you have to prove you were somewhere else at 2:08. It's no use saying "I couldn't have been here at 2:08 because I was here at 2:46" - you could have remained in the area and doubled back just to get a later timestamp after the 2:08 ticket incident. Just sayin, I know it's supposed to be "innocent until proven guilty", but you are really guilty unless you can prove you are innocent. This cop won't be getting suspended, that's for sure.

He won't, but he should for pulling this sort of ____. It happened to me a few years ago and the ticket got thrown out because I found TWO people with the exact same ticket (49 in a 25) with the exact same time stamp, exact same cop, exact same location. And since it is impossible to file 3 tickets within a 60 second time frame, all 3 tickets were thrown out and the cop got 1 week suspension. The douche was just handing tickets out like they were fliers.

Then maybe the best strategy would be to ask all the other defendants about their tickets in the hopes of finding people with the same timestamp. I suppose if the crooked cop is a smart cop, he will give each person a different court date.

The cop that gave me my ticket did that, I just got lucky with the situation because I knew the person who pulled away as I got pulled over. So I asked him, and he saw who the person was that pulled away before him.

I have my EZ pass printout saying I went through the egg harbor toll ($2.00 toll on the ac expressway) at 2:03 am, and a $.50 coming out of AC at 1:53am. Im pretty sure thats proof to me.

If I owned a Jet It might be possible to make it from egg harbor to the philly border in 5 minutes lol
