Interesting experiment taking the speed limit to the max
I've wanted to do this myself for a long time, i think it shows how you get ran over if you try to obey the speed limit. A group of kids got together and all did 55 on the freeway while taking up all lanes so that no one could pass. Some people behind them made passes that risked peoples lives just to get around.

That is hillarious. I would hate to be the people stuck behind that group, but it is a very facinating study. It is cool when they show the bridge shot with an almost empty road, then the line of cars after the people going the speed limit. Props to the guy that came up with the idea.
The direction of the video was STUPID. It would have made more sense if they were just like "we're going to see what happens when we force everyone to drive the speed limit" and just filmed it and showed the footage.
Instead they try to be all artsy and dramatic with it and it made me want to just turn it off. Yes... I know it was for a college movie thing. Still dumb.

Anyways... on topic.
Yes... speed "limits" are pretty much useless. We all know it anyways... and it's a pretty known piece of info that slower drivers are generally more dangerous than faster ones as they might cause more aggressive driving from others (as we saw in the video) and anger people.

I have thought about this actually! I never would have had the guys to pull it off though.
During Hurricane Rita I'm sure everyone in south east Texas remembers the agony of getting out of the area.
Now think of this scenario... I know it's exotic, but just imagine: Terrorists get 20 or so busses/large vehicles. In a timed attack they set off a dirty bomb ... or a chemical attack on the city of Houston ... as close to the center as possible or in multiple locations. At the same time they flip the busses and or ditch them on the freeways blocking all major entrances and exits to the town. Scary eh?

lol, j/k but how bad would you feel if that happened, and Bin Laden (or the like) released a statement like,(insert stereotypical Arab accent here) "well I was surfin the web one day and came across this 'scionlife.com' site and..."
An unneccessary study, I think.
We all know that going the exact speed limit will get you killed real quick. For them to take it to the highway, and actually make many many people late for things that were probably important, was pointless. Their "groundbreaking" artsy-fartsy study led directly to the endangerment of at least a few lives, with that van going around them. Granted it was stupid of the van, but I think the potential risks they caused in doing the study were not needed as we all knew what the outcome of this experiment would be.
In driver's ed I drove the whole of 285 at exactly 65 mph, all 60+ miles of it, and I'll tell you that was flippin' scary.
Perhaps if they hadn't blocked off the entire roadway- maybe three cars instead of five. They weren't in danger going 55 mph when no one was flying around them and cutting them off like people do when you give them a couple open lanes.
